The stupid bint saying speed was not a factor just goes to show how out of touch with reality these types are. Although technically she is right, it was the sudden stop that did the damage.
As for arresting the lorry driver, WTF? Would they arrest you if somebody killed themselves by driving into your house? The world has gone mad.

My thoughts precisely ^^^^^^. The simple fact is that the only person involved that I actually care about is the lorry driver. The rest of them I honestly don’t give a rats ■■■ about. I’d feel the same if they were pink, yellow or green with orange spots on.

Has no one considered that the parked French truck driver was arrested (and later released without charge) because it wasn’t clear at the time that he was parked?
An arrest need not be followed by a charge. An officer who reasonably suspects someone of an offence may make an arrest in order to question the suspect at a police station

kentonline has more detailed info where for some reason people who live in islington in london would want to drive the best part of 2 hours each way assuming theres no traffic or delays to sit on dover beach to look at the moon light a fire and get wasted on booze and weed? surely theres plenty of places locally where that happens every night.
if they were that desperate wouldnt there me plenty of similar places from gravesend to the isle of sheppy at less than half the driving time with the added attraction of not being the poxhole of a place that dover is??
to anyone normal,then i would think a 4 hour return trip to and from centralish london would be purgtory and best avoided and not a pastime to unwind from your day to day stress.

I appreciate that Kent may be somewhat provincial but I’d like to think that even the most feeble minded copper would quickly come to the conclusion that the fella wearing the Superman onesie with hair looking like he’d just arrived on a motorcycle and wandering around muttering "mon dieu " just may have been asleep when he was struck by that particular meteorite! Failing that they could’ve just done some good old fashioned detective work and looked at his tacho card instead of reading him his rights.

I would imagine that it was a pretty frightening experience to be woken up by being jolted out of bed, being met by what must have been an horrific sight, and then being not just questioned, but arrested, while possibly struggling to understand what is being said before having fully taken in what has happened. Even more so when confronted with the reason for arrest being given as causing death by dangerous driving.
