In my opinion there was only one who was right. That was the one who drove his car with respect to the law and road conditions ( dark )
It doesn’t really matter who is right, it is like a pedestrian walking onto a crossing when a car is bearing down on them, they may have the right of way, but would be mad to exercise that right just because it is theirs.
This car driver felt he was in danger yet did nothing about it apart from post on here. I would have taken some action to remove myself from danger, The phrase the Cemeteries are full of dead hero’s comes to mind!
MisterStrood:
If you are putting it this way the only thing I can say is why do you stay more aside the scanny driver then in between ■■?
I’m not taking anyone’s side. I think in team speak it’s called damage limitation or something, and that is what needs to be done in this situation. If it were me I wouldn’t be travelling at such a low speed on - what is presumably - a NSL road for a truck to be up my arse, but I can wholly understand how [zb] annoying it would’ve been for the car driver to have his rear mirrors filled with truck when there was no need for it. Fact is that the world is full of idiots, be it being behind a steering wheel, on a saddle or even on foot. Many of them don’t have the brain power to even understand what they’re doing wrong and so trying to ‘police’ the problem yourself doesn’t do anything useful in terms of education for them, all it does it anger them even more.

agree, I must have misunderstood you. I have no more to say apart from: we live in the strange world and have to learn everyday how to live our lives.
Have a good day.
Andrew Leitch:
Last night driving to work in my car on a single-carriageway A-road at 50mph, a Scanny V8 McGawn from Maybole sat about 4ft from my rear bumper. I indicated left for him but he just started flashing his lights. I just carried on at 50mph, as I wasn’t going to be bullied or intimidated to travelling faster just to suit him…he tried to overtake but pulled in when a car appeared. A half mile later he pulled out again, crossed a solid white line and caused a car emerging from the junction on the opposite side to take avoiding action.
I invited him for a coffee, with the international coffee-bean hand gesture, to which he replied by testing his horn…it was working.
I was glad this lunatic was in front of me and no longer a danger to me. A mile or so later, whilst all the while travelling at a constant 50mph, I catch him as he is behind a fast-track tractor travelling at 40mph…oh dear…all that power and he can’t get by a tractor!!! FAIL!
And this morning, returning from work on the same stretch of single-carriageway, I was travelling at the same constant 50mph, a Hovis van overtook me on a blind-right hander, almost colliding with the Army transporter travelling in the opposite direction. As it passed me, I noticed a sticker on the back…‘Limited to 54mph’.
A mile later he indicated left to presumably pull into the next town…I counted the seconds…he gained a total of 4 seconds!
Is gaining 4 seconds worth putting my life and the two Army lads lifes’ at risk?
Those two lunatics are an absolute disgrace to the industry. This time they were lucky and nobody was hurt…but it’s only a matter of time before they kill someone.

What are the traffic cops doing about it ■■?
0
And of course as they weren’t there at the time they can’t do anything anyway.
Did the OP report it to the police?
It seems that maybe the speed limit is wrong as the OP have on 2 consecative days been involved in incidents due to traveling at 50mph,
that would be for the council to sort out, not traffic police.
Could it be that the road needs a 40mph limit?
truckerjon:
So, let me get this right? here is someone driving within the law, at a safe and reasonable speed, on a single carraigeway road, who is intimidated, harrassed and physically abused by some ahole in a big truck, who is clearly breaking the law, driving dangerously, inconsiderately and ina manor that could be classed as road rage, and still the majority of so called professional drivers on here critise the OP? Where did you get your licences from?
were there any places for him to pull in? ant laybys? Was it a straight road or full of bends? He says the truck tried to overtake on a SOLID WHITE LINE, which means Danger do not cross. He was trying to over take at a junction! __Why should the car driver pull over onto the side of the road to allow a CRIMINAL to carry on breaking the law?*__
Yes, it is frustrating to be caught behind a truck doing 40 on a SC, but it is the law, if you dont like it, get it changed! as for intimidating a car driver, that truck driver should have his licence shredded. It is because of idiots like him that we all have to do the CPC
As for the bread man, i had a warburtons wagon pull out from the right lane at a roundabout and turn left across my path, luckily i was fully frieghted so was pullling away slowly. how much do people need a loaf of bread that it is worth almost killing someone for?
It’s none of your business whether he’s breaking the law or not. You are not the police so let them worry about that instead of trying to illegally police the situation yourself.
The reason it makes 100% sense to GTFO of the way is because most of us want to live past the next 30 mins and aggravating a [zb] like the Scania driver in question just greatly increases the chances of him doing something even more stupid that sit 4ft from your bumper. Why put yourself in that situation when a quick swing into a layby to let him past gets him out of your hair and you can stop [zb] yourself whether you’ll survive the impact or crash is he gets it wrong.
No mention was made of laybys in the OP, nor was there any mention of the road conditions at the time, was it wet? was it dry? was the road straight or bendy? we don’t know, so we can only judge on what we do know. that is that the scania driver was BREAKING THE LAW! Who was trying to police anything? the car driver was simply driving at a speed that he considered safe and legal, maybe it was a 60 MPH limit, but, do you drive at 60MPH on every stretch of NSL road?
As for it being none of my business about him breaking the law, if we all took that attitude, we would have anarchy within weeks! as a law abiding citizen i do consider it my duty to report any criminal activity, which includes dangerous driving, and while I would not try to stop the mad truck driver, I would consider reporting him to the police if I considered that he was endangering other people with his attitude, just the same as I hope I would take action if I saw someoone bieng attacked or raped, even if my only action was to call the police, at least I would feel that i had done my bit.
If you want to live in a world where chaos and anarchy rule, where anyone can do as they please, and anyone who complains is just being an [zb], then go live there, but hopefully this country hasn’t sunk quite that low yet!

The only person who does know was the OP and we only have his word for what happened, so in fact we “KNOW” nothing we only presume that the OP is being completely truthful and unbiased in his account of the reported incident

And we have good reason to doubt that, due to the 4ft comment. More like 40ft IMHO
If you feel this bloke was such a nutter and so dangerous then surely you would have pulled over instead of getting a hard-on about holding someone else up.
You could have accelerated by just 7mph and would have pulled away. A-roads are not the place to play silly games.
if somebody wants past me that bad, i’'l let them by. they might or might not end up having a smash, but i don’t see the need to make the situation worse and end up part of an accident. Who knows,th fella in the scanny might be rushing home to his pregnant wife, or he might just be on a mission. either way, i wouldn’t fancy decorating his bonnet on a principle. Can’t we all just help each other out and quit ■■■■■■■■? And another thing, best not to judge a man till you’ve walked a mile in his shoes. Right, im off for another beer from the fridge.
Rob K:
If they were causing such a problem to you any normal person would have pulled in at the first convenient layby and let them get on with it. By the tone of your post it sounds like you enjoyed playing being a cop and got kicks from their frustration. And don’t bother pointing me at “I indicated left” because it means nothing. You know as well as the rest of us that trucks are limited to 56mph so indicating left for him to pass when you’re doing 50mph yourself serves no useful purpose as it would take half a mile to complete the manoeuvre at that speed. You’re obviously not in any hurry yourself doing 50mph, so just pull over and stop making such a [zb] issue out of it.
This is a typical answer to drivers with a …you attitude. He was keeping to the legal limit.
[/quote]
Big assumption that. The OP doesn’t mention a speed limit, only that it was a single carriageway and as no speed limit was mentioned it could be assumed it was NSL so he was doing 10 miles less than the limit. In that situation and with 10 mph to play with I would have gone up to the limit, or a couple of miles over it, and put some distance between me and the idiot so he wasn’t sitting 4 feet from my rear bumper. Unfortunately so many car drivers do not know the speed limits. I get this on the way to work on a single carriageway with some NSL sections, on which weather permitting you can easily do 60 mph on but cars that do 30 in the 30 and 40 in the 40 only go up to 50 in the NSL sections.

Well I’m going to be targeting the limit and more all the way up the A1 to Edinburgh in a little while and I don’t want anybody ■■■■■ footing about in front of me while I am trying to get to football…
