Give up, because this stubborn idiot, doesn’t know his arse from his elbow. He will argue til’ the cows come home, and beyond that.
I just hope one day he drives up my exhaust. I will show the true facts. ■■■■ off Rob, and take your idiotic views elsewhere.
Drive safely, because one day…
Resorting to personal attacks and abuse is always the sign of a failed argument.

This whole situation is not helped by those who work for certain supermarkets and religiously stick to the speed limits, which is fine, but make no allowance for those that are allowed to travel faster.
I was behind a Tesco lorry for 26 miles from Ely to Guyhirn travelling at 35mph. At no point did he make any effort to allow either cars or other LGV’s pass, he simply plodded on because that was what he was paid to do.
I completely agree, although trucks can be excused if they are keeping to their speed limit. It’s those that deliberately drive at less than the speed limit on good roads that are the problem.
saw one today on m1 a cool solutions reefer who was sat on the bumper of a young woman who by the way had 2 kids strapped in back ps it was p*****g down as well. makes you proud to be a driver
I would say the suicidal person would be the car in front, come the big crash that is the one who dies!!!
If that was me (it would never be) I would have speeded (is that a word?) up, but as you said you didn’t want to be intimidated into going faster, that being the case I would have slowed down, the truck would have passed me and life would go on like always…job done
It seems you are an accident waiting for a place to happen.
I am not by any means condoning the truck drivers actions, but he isn’t here for me to tell him/her what I think of them.
God, I hate to say it but i’m with Rob on this one.
Ok the guys in the trucks were idiots but if he was annoying you that much either speed up or slow down enough to let him past safely or pull over and let him past.
Or slam on and let the Zebedee ram you for the compo, or better still slam on and challenge the prick to a bout of Queensbury rules.

So Rob are prohibition signs stating compulsory speed ■■? If you want to go faster overtake !!! If you can not why harass other road users.
If you go let’s say on A 361 from Branstaple to Tiverton and you’ve got booking time within an 1.5 hour and you drive on single carriageway 56 mph while cars want to go 70 mph do you pull off every 3-5 minutes just to let them pass ■■? Read yourself and think - do you behave this way as you want others to do ■■? (assuming those in cars are in a hurry like you or the Scanny driver or Hovis one ).

Agreed. But as previously mentioned, the trucker could not do so as the kid in the starting post said he was sticking at 50.
No of course you don’t pull in, because cars can easily overtake so there is no need to. However, if there is a long queue behind you and there is a lot of traffic coming the other way/too many blind areas then it would make sense to pull in for 30 secs to let the backlog clear and then continue on your way doing 50 or whatever leisurely speed you want to do.
this case its wagon behind the car, what if it was car behind wagon??
I’ve had it a loads of times, cars so close I need to move from one side of my lane to the other to confirm there is a car there. after that I get the horn n the finger from the driver as he/she is driving towards a blind bend.
so its not only the Truck drivers who take suicidal moves.
personally if you are doing less than 5 MPH below the speed limit (eg. 44 in a 60), without good reason there should be a fine.

well i also drive for a supermarket , and yes i drive at 40 mph on a s/c because thats the speed limit, why rush the job and get back to the depot with hours to spare, just for them to send me back out for a local drop , no thanks. No pressure in my job at all ,get the job done safely and go home. If some want to fly round like ■■■■■■■■■ fine but dont expect me to pull in and let them past either
So, let me get this right? here is someone driving within the law, at a safe and reasonable speed, on a single carraigeway road, who is intimidated, harrassed and physically abused by some a*hole in a big truck, who is clearly breaking the law, driving dangerously, inconsiderately and ina manor that could be classed as road rage, and still the majority of so called professional drivers on here critise the OP? Where did you get your licences from?
were there any places for him to pull in? ant laybys? Was it a straight road or full of bends? He says the truck tried to overtake on a SOLID WHITE LINE, which means Danger do not cross. He was trying to over take at a junction! Why should the car driver pull over onto the side of the road to allow a CRIMINAL to carry on breaking the law?
Yes, it is frustrating to be caught behind a truck doing 40 on a SC, but it is the law, if you dont like it, get it changed! as for intimidating a car driver, that truck driver should have his licence shredded. It is because of idiots like him that we all have to do the CPC
As for the bread man, i had a warburtons wagon pull out from the right lane at a roundabout and turn left across my path, luckily i was fully frieghted so was pullling away slowly. how much do people need a loaf of bread that it is worth almost killing someone for?
waddy640:
So here we have it, replies from all sides and basically the attitude is “I’m alright Jack and stuff the rest of you”
Maybe that is 1/2 of the problem here, drivers are too selfish and have no consideration for other road users, be it the pushy truck driver or the “I want to police the roads” car driver. If the OP just slowed down for a few seconds the truck would have gone and everyone would be happy. If the truck driver showed some patience he would have been a few minutes later where he wanted to be, but more relaxed. In the end both were probably stressed out because “they thought they were in the right”

It’s none of your business whether he’s breaking the law or not. You are not the police so let them worry about that instead of trying to illegally police the situation yourself.
The reason it makes 100% sense to GTFO of the way is because most of us want to live past the next 30 mins and aggravating a [zb] like the Scania driver in question just greatly increases the chances of him doing something even more stupid that sit 4ft from your bumper. Why put yourself in that situation when a quick swing into a layby to let him past gets him out of your hair and you can stop [zb] yourself whether you’ll survive the impact or crash is he gets it wrong.

In my opinion there was only one who was right. That was the one who drove his car with respect to the law and road conditions ( dark )

Rob K I know nothing about your life but let me try to imagine this way ;
Example 1: In that car that avoided head on crash was your only one beloved child and unfortunately didn’t make to avoid it. Died at the scene. What then would be your thoughts ? The same tat [zb] should have get out of the way of that reckless lorry driver or [zb] lorry driver killed my only one child and now I want to kill him ■■?
Example 2: Your only one beloved child was the one in car in front of that lorry and the same died in a crash because when noticed lorry that close to the bumper that he/she panicked and hit the brakes but lorry driver unfortunately didn’t make it.
No we are not policeman’s on the road but we should not tolerate that kind of behaviour on the roads and show criminals that we will get out of their way. It’s the whole lot : not using indicator, cutting off, using wrong lanes etc.
Why do you glorify criminal behaviour ? Was that you in that Scanny ?
BTW what do you think about car driver who cut you in front to get to his exit in the last moment that you have to stop in to a stop and your whole load is mess up ■■? Good lad he was in a hurry ■■!!
I don’t think the argument should be who is right or wrong. It should be how can the situation be easily sorted. The trucker could stop driving like a ■■■■ or the OP could have taken himself out of the situation if he had wanted to. I don’t tailgate people and highly doubt Rob does, i’m not criticising the OP, i’ve said the trucker was in the wrong. Although if driving at 10mph below the limit is prompting the OP to be involved on a regular basis in such situations, a look at his driving style may be in order. Drop it down to 40 maybe so lunatics can get past and on their way easier.

For me there is one solution : we have to have only dual carriageways

That’s just a strawman argument. In your example 1 above you could also look at it the other way and say that had the driver got out of the way earlier and let him past then he wouldn’t have been on the wrong side of the road facing a head-on when he was. It works both ways.
Your “what about your loved ones” comments are also strawman. I really YAWN at these type of comments because it’s all so sensationalist and hypothetical, but I’ll go along with it for a change - any normal person would put their own family first before anyone elses so were I in the situation described in the opening post and had my entire family in the car with me, I would NOT aggravate the situation by doing what he did. I would either get my toe down to exceed the max speed of the truck OR if I really wanted to tootle along at 50 admiring the scenery or whatever, I would get my toe down and then pull in the first available place in order to let him past. That ensures my family are safe and also clears my conscience of any guilt if I’d stuck to 50 “because I wasn’t doing anything wrong” ( ) and then he’d had a head-on with another family, wiping them out, as he was overtaking me.
As silver and jim say, there is no right or wrong answer; what it boils down to is what is the SENSIBLE thing to do? And that is to GTFO of their way ASAP, not to try to police the situation yourself and “teach them a lesson”.
