It always amazes me on these forums the drivers that are all for things to make the job harder Why do YOU want LHV’s ? ? Oh & if the EU bans double deck trailers, so [zb] what? The firm will have to buy more trailers then wont they . All these ideas are just to make the men in the ivory towers even more dosh- there’re of no benefit to you whatsoever
It’s 2011 yet some of you guys sleep in a ‘smelly tin box’ after a 15hour day in a layby
Then you chase your backside all over the country for £300-400p/wk
Sad or what

no mate its 1963 lol we aint born yet cause we dont know how lucky we are zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
He does have a good point, LHV’s and Double deck trailers will reduce vehicle numbers meaning less jobs, and don’t for one minute think because you drive a LHV you would get anything like as much money as the 2 drivers it would have needed. The only people to make money from them would be the corporate bosses, who gets more money for pulling a double deck trailer?

Any driver working for someone else would be mad to want double deckers. We’ve got loads of B doubles here. There’s a job down the drain for every one that’s on the road. As for smelly tin boxes… it takes all sorts to make the world go round, and some of 'em do stink.
Jimti beat me to it.
Dunno then?:

Yeah right it must be better to just have four wheelers and day cabs running at the old 16 tonne limit .That way no one would need a class 1 licence and there’d be loads more jobs.At the end of an 8 hour shift just book in to a decent hotel at the firm’s expense if you’re on distance work or even better just let the smaller trucks do local multi drop jobs where you can claim back all of your travelling expenses from the guvnor for commuting every day and let the rail freight operators do all of the distance work considering the fuel efficiency of the train versus four wheeler 16 tonners over longer distances.Any driver who does’nt want the local multi drop work will be offered training and a guaranteed job driving all of the extra freight trains required for around £50,000 per year for a 40 hour week plus overtime.
Boris Don’t forget everything in your home has been on a truck at some point with out us guys doing this job you would be living in a cardboard box
The sun does shine outa my ■■■ as im on top of the world

Boris, you must understand that working-class people do not want better working conditions, they just want to do more work, and work at an ever-cheaper rate so that their Masters can earn more money.

Rail freight…That’s goin to work then…Even train carriages go by road when they are new because it is cheaper to move them that way
That’s not taking into account the rail network is full to capacity anyway and the infastructure can’t handle the extra weight of freight,

A yank rigid prime mover, with some decent living space, pulling a decent drawbar trailer might be a good start in getting some bettter working conditions paid for by better productivety. But the government won’t allow it.But the Russians tried the other option by having a working class revolution to overthrow their masters and every one was working a 20 hour week on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern for the same wages as a professional footballer earns after that.Which is why the Russians had to stop all those who wanted to emigrate there because they could’nt handle the numbers.

I’m on a 4 wheeler at the moment due to breakdown-most 7.5 tonners are longer, P.O.P to drive even in comparisson to my 6w. I get the same wages, and a much easier job

Did anybody else switch off at that point?
Completely… Had it not been a sensible person post then I wouldn’t have looked. If only it was as easy to end bloodlines as it is to end a thread on here…
