Got 3 shifts in Reading on the railways, starting at 23.00 on 24th then nothing till after new year, unless the agency decide to give me something over new year. Not holding out much hope though, been a very quiet xmas rush.

I wished we could go back to how it was when I was a boy, everywhere closed for about 5 days, nice and quiet and spent the holidays visiting family.
I remember, if you got a toy that needed batteries, and mum forgot to get them, you was knackered!!
The only shop I remember opening was the news agents boxing day morning only.
In london now it’s like a normal day.

I remember this when i was a wee boy on numerous chrimbos. You know another thing thats changed for the worse shops never used to open on a sunday well your corner ones would but im talking about town centres they used to be like ghost towns on a sunday.

Well I’m one of those over paid scumbags from Tesco’s Donny that got their come uppence. I’m on full pay (including week end premiums) until January 4th. That really taught us a lesson, didn’t it?

I’d imagine it won’t be RDCs but the lads working will be doing things like Milk collection, as that has to happen 365 days a year!

My christmas shifts are on railway maintainance. The site I’m on has a posession of the line from 01.00 on christmas day till 06.00 on the 27th. The truck driving part will only be about 30 mins on xmas eve and 30 mins on 27th, the rest is operating the access boom for the 12 hrs shifts

not delivering xmas day but we have lighting/sound/rigging/stage to move from London (event finishes 2am on the 24th) to Edinburgh ready to start set up on the 26th

Same as me, mate; Busy all last week, not turned a wheel all this week. Lovely little job, but that wont pay the mortgage so I rang the place where I used to be a trainee plant operator. They’re sending me a form but they shut for Christmas from tonight to Jan 2nd so it’ll be an uneasy Chrimbo methinks.
