Who's Enjoying Their Job?

Been with the same company for 14 years and still enjoy .couldn’t think of another job that would give the same variation in work

So so at the moment, Hours are brilliant, Mon-Fri basically 8 till 5 with anything outside that at O/T rate (about 3 hours a week) but I am bored,
Half looking for ADR work.

I work all the hours under the sun Monday to Friday (within the law of course!) do approx 800-1200 miles a week and most of the time I’m warm, comfortable and have the radio or my ipod on. I get well paid, get £30 night out allowance per night (usually 3 a week, 2 then 1, or 1 then 2) and also get ‘cash in hand’ payments for unusual working days. As well as distance general haulage we are trained to fit & install a range of industrial sized fridges that are often ‘out of hours’ deliveries. We’re based in Stockport but cover the whole of the UK & Ireland too.
I enjoy my job!

I love the job I’m doing now! Trunk a DD from Enfield to either Greenford or Fradley, tip and/or reload back to Enfield! This week I’m on the first trunk, start at 2000 arrived at Fradley at 2255,tip and reload for Enfield, tip and run empty to Greenford for a load back to Enfield! Finish at around 0700! :grimacing:

Only weds last week I got back behind the steering wheel of the big wheelers after an enforced 20 month wait (yep read it, 20 months  ) while the DVLA dotted all their i’s and crossed the t’s over some issues they had with my health.
Within the first hour whilst getting back into the job I ended up stuck in a que on the M62 :unamused: , two hours and six miles later I escaped the que  , and within a very short time I was back to the pig in ■■■■ status of someone who loves the job :sunglasses:

tango boy:
i like my job, i like the get up and go, running on you’re own or running with someone, not stuck in a office or warehouse, working out where you’re going to get parked up on a night, maybe a few beers or whatever, i think tramping makes the week go by quicker, then back home to her indoors and the kids.

Aye seconded

Just changed jobs a week ago and wished i’d come here years ago.
Fantastic kit, doing a bit of Europe again and i’m left alone to get on with the job, really good facilities for drivers and they all seem to get on too which is a bonus!
Decent money and yes,i seem to be falling in love with the job again after the Stobart end of tramping episode and the crap job i had in between for 3 months.
Roll on Thursday so i can get back in the truck!!

I enjoy it until i break down, or the snow comes

Who’s Enjoying Their Job?
not me.

yet.

Jase, don`t forget to ask for the driver discount at most restaurants in europe, just fill in a form on the till, hand it in, then they give a loyalty card with 25% off your meal, some have stamp cards where you buy 9 meals and get the 10th free.
Autogrill has good value meals and a large choice, if you like puddings like Creme Caramel with burnt sugar on top.
They may give you a temporary card untill the new one gets posted to you.

Cheers Toby,I’ll do just that.
Things have changed a bit since ive last been over,to hold a conversation on the boat now I must learn to speak Polski!!,shame there’s not many British firms going over now.

Who you on for now fella?
That Nuttalls job not upto much?

Everything about it is ■■■■. The joke of a wage, the treatment, the stigma attached…
But I have no choice, it’s the only job I know how to do. I was a lazy git who couldn’t be arsed studying at school to become something respectable.

yup, i love mine

Driving a truck is a job. Pretend it’s not if you like, but it is.

It’s only a hobby if you get to choose when you drive and can take time off whenever you wish. If you are self employed you have more choice of what you do and when you work. I think if I worked for the same firm all the time I’d be out of driving within weeks.

Unless they were paying me 50K/year for 40 hours of course…!

It is definately a hobby for me :sunglasses: Sometimes they call me, sometimes they dont, sometimes I am available, sometimes I am not....Everyone seems happy with the arrangement. The only reason they keep on calling me, is that I just get on with it, dont moan and can do the job effeciently.

Are you really me in disguise…!!! Sounds like what I do guv…
