Who's Enjoying Their Job?

My jobs pretty good. Newish motor serviced on the button and good money. Very little weekend work. Very happy.

For someone who works Monday to Friday with very few Saturdays and no Sundays, chooses where he works and what work he does I should be a happy bunny, but I haven’t enjoyed the job for the past couple of years. There’s been nothing wrong with the work, the equipment or the hours but I don’t enjoy driving anymore - it’s a chore. Been looking at the option of lorry driving as a part-time affair and making more time for my hobbies - especially those that make a bit of pocket money at present.

I enjoy it, but no one I work with does. I’m a ■■■■■■■ outcast.

I’m happy for you, but if it involves trucks that are run for profit, I guarantee it won’t last.

Living the dream. Although some days it’s more nightmare lol

Present employer laid me off in Jan 2010 , so I moved on and was doing just fine but got offered my job back (dead mans shoes) in Sept 2011 and took it ,so that speaks volumes  .
However like KR79 it can be a nightmare at this time of the year

My job’s a paying hobby.
When I here some of the guys moaning about a route or that they have two drops makes me smile,if you started in this industry 40 years ago you’ll know what I mean.

I wouldn’t change the job I have now, been here 7 years or so the places I’ve been and seen people pay money to go to and I got paid to see these places

i like my job, i like the get up and go, running on you’re own or running with someone, not stuck in a office or warehouse, working out where you’re going to get parked up on a night, maybe a few beers or whatever, i think tramping makes the week go by quicker, then back home to her indoors and the kids.

Driving a truck is a job. Pretend it’s not if you like, but it is.

It’s only a hobby if you get to choose when you drive and can take time off whenever you wish. If you are self employed you have more choice of what you do and when you work. I think if I worked for the same firm all the time I’d be out of driving within weeks.

Unless they were paying me 50K/year for 40 hours of course…!

Indeed so!
There were more manufacturing firms around back then who delivered
their own products with their own fleets.
A pal of mine used to do 60 to 70 drops London and Kent every week. :open_mouth:
I was lucky - I did the same area for another firm but only 30 to 40 drops.
And the social life was great!

Some jobs make drivers ill, and lots of health problems from it.

I quite agree; I was amazed at how depressed my last job had made me. In a week I seem to be Scrooge post the ghosts’ visit.
…Except I’ve not got around to giving money to the homeless yet.
:smiling_imp:

I’m a london bus driver, and hate it!

Just got a text from my boss; Go to his house as the my lorry’s been moved there; His boys washed it on Saturday.
:sunglasses:

It is definately a hobby for me :sunglasses: Sometimes they call me, sometimes they dont, sometimes I am available, sometimes I am not....Everyone seems happy with the arrangement. The only reason they keep on calling me, is that I just get on with it, dont moan and can do the job effeciently.

Love it, wouldnt wont to be doing anything else and its the people i work for that make so it good! Although i do have my off days where i all want to do is jack it in lol.

I am more than happy with my lot

Life is good, but I have always been a glass half full kind of guy, life is what you make it

I like loads. Can’t see me leaving. Don’t get me wrong, I’d rather be at home but I certainly don’t mind it when I have to be there!

Clean work, new kit, no hassle (think I’ve had 3 calls in 3 years when on the road) good money etc etc.
