Who would do a mass sick day to support the tanker drivers

for a general “drivers” wage increase yes! for just one sector of an industry that is dying on its arse, no chance

If I’m unhappy with my works terms and conditions I speak to my boss. If we don’t reach a compromise it’s up to me to look for something else.
I’m lucky in having worked for firms where you can speak to the management directly though.

Mind you for who are the biggest divas in truck driving I can’t decide if it’s petrol tanker drivers or music tour drivers.

del949:
oh I think you can Spanky, you seem to believe a lot of other rubbish

such as?

Me, They are not overpaid, it is those on general haulage who are underpaid, well done to them for fighting for their rights

del949:
I guess that you admire the germans then CF.

incidentally I see that the sales of jerry cans have soared but is JERRYcan a offensive term?

Looks like the gov’t called this one right, tell people to stock pile petrol, and hey presto, record sales of gogas and containers, probably funnels and syphon tubes will also sell like hot cakes
I wonder if its worth emptying my beer barrells in the garage to store diesel.

On a seperate issue, considering changing my trusty disco this weekend, does anyone have any info on Mitsubishi ASX’s? good or bad? the info on t’internet is a bit sparse

Zb union tactics del if you ask me.I would have told the zb’s in government that the strike ballot had gone against any strike action. Then I’d have announced an indefinite strike starting a week after April 1’st on Sunday. :smiling_imp:

By ze vay it’s only ze German vages zat I’ve always admired about ze zb’s. :smiling_imp:

Fight for your rights it’s OK, holding a whole country with innocent people to ransome for your own gain is very wrong.
these peole are not much better than Idi Amin, Ghana Pirates, or any other dictator!

Would you agree if the Milkman kidnapped your wife and kids to get his bill paid??

Fight them without getting anybody involved, for example work only 8 hours a day, and don’t do overtime.
This will mean that you are all more relaxed and the unions get more people employed, that is what they want or should wnat…isn’t■■?

its like asking nurses to go on strike to increase just the doctors salary. what do you think they would say

Following this through to it’s logical conclusion if the tanker drivers strike for a week or more we’ll all be grounded with dry tanks anyway.

No need for anyone to do a sickie.

I think you’d have grown up in much harder times than you could ever dream of if everyone had thought like you since the 1920’s and the economy would probably have been bankrupt by 1970. :unamused:

Did the tanker drivers come out in 2000. did they f…k

Personally. Reading these threads it’s amazing how many people have forgotten or have never even bothered to read the history about how Unions improved wages and conditions of the majority of workers in this country and elsewhere.
Some of you should be ashamed and forced to read our industrial relations and social history. If you are unwilling. Stop bleating about something you know nothing about.
BTW if the Tanker drivers get what they want it will have a beneficial effect on you own wages and conditions without you having to even lift a finger to help.
Some on here don’t deserve that.

I don’t think that the ‘doctors’ in this case have said that they want an ‘increase’ in salary or that the ‘nurses’ can’t join them to defend their ‘existing’ terms and conditions’ if they want to.Although having said that most of the nurses with any sense have already zb’d off to Canada or Australia.

Nope, and if I was an out of work driver, or an agency driver, I’d happily cross the picket line as well. Thanks to these idiots, the pumps in Chelmsford are running dry, and when I start my working week on Saturday I’ll have to get up an hour earlier and cycle to work, meaning I’ll have to go to bed earlier and get home later. So while they’re fighting for more money for unsociable hours, in a very unsociable industry, they’ve ■■■■■■ my already unsocial life up even more.

As coffee said, ■■■■ 'em

listen, no one gives a flying f…when a depot is closed or work moved ect ect, so dont come the old ransom stuff, we have had all sorts of silly rule heaped on us that have cost money and give no improvement, I thuought it was free collective bargaining bla bla bla

@c-kay
Ah! Diddums. :unamused:

Dear God, not a hope in hell (sic) of the industry ever getting a proper drivers only union, this lot of chumps can’t see any further than yesterdays copy of the Sun…has it changed political allegiance this week by the way?

I fully support their actions, would i have sick day?.

NO, because for one thing i do not take the ■■■■ out of my employer regardless of how bad they have been (would have brought me down to their level in some cases) so have never in my working life failed to go to work unless an authorised holiday etc…secondly and most importantly that is not how a professionally organised dispute is run, the tanker drivers and especially their union would not want others to do this, it would be counter productive and give much needed propaganda to the bought and paid for media.

In the unlikely event of coming upon one their picket lines, i will take great pleasure in having a friendly chat with the lads and then turn around, i will not cross one of their lines.

Pumps running dry?..ask Cameron why, the tanker drivers are working flat out to keep up with demand thanks to the Cameron trying to cause a panic resulting in the brainwashed and generally stupid public blaming the worlds issues on the tanker lads…it worked, incredible…as a bonues the tanker lads are milking the overtime so they’ll be able to afford to stop out longer, well done dave.

Ah! Diddums. :unamused:

Oh sorry, I thought these strikes were to improve road safety and to ease off the unsociable hours they have to work? Why should I have to be awake for more hours in the day, possibly making me tired and unsafe on the roads and ruining my social life even more than its already ■■■■■■?

It’s a ridiculous argument, but it’s no more ridiculous than these planned strikes

Who would be perpared to do a mass sick day to support the tanker drivers?

Not a chance! I don’t get paid sick money and they earn more than me. Stop whinging ffs an army bomb disposal expert, firefighters etc get less than tanker drivers.
