Who would do a mass sick day to support the tanker drivers

Err NO

No i wouldnt really got naff all to do with me although im actually backing them! fair play its a group of drivers sticking together and they have hold of the short curlys instead of the other way around. As long as they dont blink first they will get what they want.

We should try fuel rationing :grimacing:

answer this one then ! if the haulage industry were to go on strike, containers, fridges, everybody, would you work or strike , be honest

Work, I have absolutely no reason to strike.

Work, simply because I’m happy in my work and enjoy my job. Therefore no need for me to strike.

pavaroti:
No! But they have a good cause similar to agency supermarket bods. Tanker firms same as supermarkets are refusing to take on perm staff instead using agency which aint so good for the driver to say the least

This is exactly the problem. we have had agency men covering our holidays, but thankfully out gaffer has realised that some of the idiots are causing problems, so now they are employing fulltime holiday cover drivers that are upto the job and won’t leave trampers motors in a ■■■■ tip.

I’d work. I’m an individual and it’s my choice.

The voice of reason! Couldn’t agree more.

depends on what the strike was out to achieve ? ?

eeerrr no i wouldnt …did they all come out and stand at the gates of kingsbury ,stanlow ,pembrook and more when hauliers ,farmers and a few car drivers were blocking - prostesing over high oil prices which if they had of came down then would of resuled in us all maybe having a chance of more money as the profits out the job would have been higher did the ■■■■■■■■ so no f*** em

They are already overpaid enough as it is, and they want to strike to get more money, sack the [zb] lot of them for all I care :smiling_imp:

Overpaid or paid more than you?
Would you turn down £45,000 per year to do your job and tell the management, “No thanks, you keep it. I’m paid enough.”? I know I wouldn’t.
The attitude of drivers in general [zb] stinks. Overpaid because they’re on more money than most? They’re on roughly double what I’m on. Am I jealous? No. Would I take a job on £45,000 per year if offered? Hell yes!
As for would I take a sick day in protest with all other drivers? If all, and I mean all, HGV drivers did it to prove a point, then I would too. Otherwise no, it’s meaningless. Drivers being drivers, we’ll never get a consensus so no, I shan’t be taking a sick day.

as i originally posted, i believe that they are overpaid, what i am paid is no concern of yours or anyone elses for that matter!

Would they all have a mass sick day if all the container drivers went on strike? Or what about all the curtainsider drivers?

No?

Don’t think so somehow :unamused:

Not jealous are you. :unamused:

why would i be jealous?

i already have what i want, i own the trucks that i drive, not just drive the trucks that someone else owns, if i want to pay myself more money, it is simple, i just transfer it from one account to another

what i am paid is no concern of yours or anyone elses for that matter!

but you seem very concerned at what the tanker drivers get

i can’t honestly believe that you are that stupid :unamused:

oh I think you can Spanky, you seem to believe a lot of other rubbish

I can do a sick of hearing about it day…

Wrong question. That’s the same thing as illegal secondary unofficial action and/or fraud against an employer claiming to be sick when not.

Would I have taken part in a general strike, against the government laws concerning secondary action at the time when they were introduced.Yes.Then assuming that action had been successful.

If required would I have then taken part in a general strike in support of a minimum wage, sufficient to cover private social security, medical cover, and pensions for all workers,in addition to providing disposable incomes,in real terms, the equivalent of those, provided by the equivalent hourly wage rates,of equivalent German workers, since the 1970’s to date.Yes.

Just one question CF, and not asked unkindly. Throughout these discussions you’ve held up the German way of doing things as a model for how it should be done here. Given that it is your right as a citizen of the EU to live and work anywhere within it, why have you not moved to Germany if it’s so much better there?

I guess that you admire the germans then CF.

incidentally I see that the sales of jerry cans have soared but is JERRYcan a offensive term?

Looks like the gov’t called this one right, tell people to stock pile petrol, and hey presto, record sales of gogas and containers, probably funnels and syphon tubes will also sell like hot cakes
I wonder if its worth emptying my beer barrells in the garage to store diesel.

On a seperate issue, considering changing my trusty disco this weekend, does anyone have any info on Mitsubishi ASX’s? good or bad? the info on t’internet is a bit sparse

Because they have ways of making you work!
