How many profesional qualifications (or bits of paper as you have put it) are awarded by solely passing tests and exams?
As for the question of who trains trainers - Those companies that look to provide a good quality service to thier customers and who train thier own staff to the highest standards possible

You are now talking about chicken and eggs
Who trained the one-man-band who sets up his own LGV training school and is the LGV instructor
What I was getting at is that if there was a compulsory, accreditted, nationwide LGV instructor training course and test(s) before anyone could do paid LGV instructing then the above would not be possible.
Instructors (ADIs) for cars MUST do such training - yes, I know car learners are different due to lack of on-road driving and the LGV is an upgrade from that but that leaves a lack of ‘realistic’ accreditation for the LGV instructor because the current voluntary DSA LGV instructor registration lacks accreditted training with ongoing ‘real life’ assessments.
hi finding this debate very interesting i thick most lgv instructer (dsa approved) believe being tested every 4 year by a senior examiner who would give the instructer a scenario like mybe i will pretend to be some one who had some lgv traning buts move to a new area so im looking to have some more training a good idea so as long as all lgv dsa instructer are tested it must mean thay can teach pupils to pass the dsa test ps my training to be an lgv dsa instructer went vear well

They will know what is needed but are not tested to see if they are actually capable of doing it with a real trainee.
In cloud cuckoo land it would be possible for someone to pass the DSA LGV instructor test(s) and not have a clue about how to train properly - not likely to happen in reality though.
There have been posts in the newbies forum where a DSA registered LGV instructor has shouted at trainees and demeanded them - thankfully this sort of thing is very rare but it does show that being on the register is not the be-and-all and may not have been allowed to continue if an examiner had watched the instructor teach a real trainee.
hi if a instructor has to shout at a pupil the instructor cart be doing a vear good job the pupil is only as good as training thay have been given the instructor is the one with the experienced and tell your mates and when the instructors dont get work and no money thay my think that thay should be more professional

That is the best way - recommendations - good… or bad - the only true way to find out how good or not a school and it’s instructors are.

in other words how does some one know that’s the way to do it and how do there know it done that way

What about THE PERIODIC (ongoing) DRIVER CPC trainers.
Who is going to train them
How do we know that they are any good
Are we really bothered
This is a new concept, not only to drivers but to the trainers that will be delivering this as well.

You could keep this going with the trainers’ trainers’ trainer etc etc but sooner or later you have to set a level and those that reach that level then cross assess each other on a regular basis to check that an across-the-board standard is being maintained.
