Job of a lifetime?? Lover of Formula 1.
If I didn’t have the family responsibilities I have I would certainly be applying.

Why do they prefer ex forces for that job?
so after a 15 hour day they can say “yes sir” when ask to sweep the garage floor.
it would be a good job for a single guy/gal with no ties though.

According to the advert its PAINTING the garage floor dave
I dont doubt its a very good glamorous job but i dont fancy the subservience that seems to go with it
Certainly would be a good single blokes job, decent tackle and wages.
Dont expect to get to see much racing though, you will not stop from 7am till midnight on the days you are building your pit.
I did some driving for the BSB support team. 3 days with about 12 hours sleep. then a mad rush to catch the ferry or to catch an aeroplane with all the packing cases which include complete cars.
Good Luck to you all
BSB that wouldn’t be British Superbikes then, would it? Wouldn’t mind a job driving for them myself.

Yes, I was driving Padgetts Grand Prix truck, good crack on the days before the punters are allowed in, everybody mucks in to get the paddock set up, so we can all get into the bar Then the Prima Donnas come the next day and take all the glory
You reckon this is GOOD job
You’re off your head or haven’t you got to ‘duties’ bit yet

I find myself agreeing with Rob
£30k isnt so great now a days! and the worst thing is it looks like you have to WORK for it!
No doubt hard work for whats not fantastic money but I can’t imagine too many jobs with Formula 1 teams being advertised. If you’re interested in motorsport it could have a strong appeal despite the drawbacks.
Its 30k for 6 months work. I dont suppose you will drive to Malaysia, Canada, Australlia, USA or Brazil
These jobs are not for the new breed of drivers, they are for enthusiasts and followers of motorsport.
A lot of people will do it for experience
I can’t follow link as i don’t have internet explorer gggrrrrr and it doesn’t like Opera
Does that mean i can sue for browserism

Sorry to disagree with you here Wheel nut but it’s not 6 months work .
I applied for a job with Bernie Ecclestein’s “Formula 1” based at Biggin Hill Airport.
This job wasn’t on the car side but on the TV side of things (the guys you see on tv in silver jump suits with clapper boards on the back).
During the interview I was told quite a bit about the car side as well as the tv side
When you go abroad you fly out but still have to drive on arrival as they dont want to trust anybody else with their multimillion pounds cars.
You also still have to drive in the “off” season when they do thier testing.
On the tv side you worked 3 weeks on & 1 week off, If your week off fell on a long distance race ie Oz Or USA they would put you up in a seperate hotel if it fell on a “local” race basicly anywhere in Europe they would fly you back to Biggin Hill.
I was told the hours involved & he made a point of telling methat it wouldn’t be as long as the cars but basically you would arrive first to a circuit & leave last.
I asked how much time that would leave to get to different race meetings & was told basically that you were double manned & you got there no matter what.
Apparently they thought that driving all week then working all weekend would be ok because they gave you every 4th week off.
For the race teams on race weekends the days were often 16/17 hours long & you only get around 3/4 hours sleep
I could go on but I’m getting writers cramp now but just because the sport is glamourus doesn’t mean the job is
Oh by the way one element of the job for race team drivers was to park the rigs next to each other within an inch or 2 making sure all the wheels are in the same position with tyre valves in line on each tyre & the writing on each tyre in the same position on each tyre .
just to give an idea of the standards they expect
bullitt:
If you were told to dig a hole, stick your head in it and slap your arse with a piece of wet lettuce you would,
Is this common practice in Formula 1
Job sounds ideal if your a fan of F1 though but not my cup of tea.

.
every race meeting I thought everybody knew that
I didnt say it was easy, and its certainly not for anyone, who wont rope and sheet, or start before 6, or drive a Renault.
The job will be hard work, its all about presentation and sponsorship.
The main job will be at the circuits, preparing pits and hospitality suites, The crew members are normally good team players, they cant do with a whinging bloke, who thinks he knows best The HGV licence is just a very small part of this job, anyone can drive a truck, not everyone can work out precise fuel measurement or tyre temperatures. I would think its interesting because if you have responsibility for dealing with the tyre company, and you get it slightly wrong, you will be more hated then you are now
There is no way I would work for that little poison dwarf, Ecclestone though
