When I used to employ people, I expected them to bring with them the qualifications required to do the job as advertised.
I’ve never employed a truck driver, but if I did, then I’d expect you to come to me with all the paperwork required for you to do the job I advertised. Universal Jobfinder is a classic example of where this has all gone wrong, advertise a job on that website & just about everyone will apply, apart from anyone qualified to actually do the job.
If I advertise for an LGV C+E driver then I expect you to be a qualified LGV C+E driver who has already passed the test & has the paperwork to prove it.
Once I’ve employed you, I will expect that it is me (the company) who shoulders the financial burden of maintaining your qualifications whilst you’re on the job.
This assumes that you come to me as PAYE. If you come to me as a contractor, then you’re on your own.
I struggle to get my head around folk who go to work PAYE & are happy to pay out money in order to do so.
We go to work to earn money, not spend it.

It’s your personal equipment, when you move company the card goes with you. Whereas they supply the charts but when u leave you don’t take the box of charts with you (unless you pinch them 
)

yer and the cpc is paid at Saturday rate time and a half 
Best bit is I was happily making the company run smoothly in the flt storage area when the boss talked me into driving …its hit the pits in there now

I would rather have a steady constant job with a certain degree of security than changing and job hopping, some may say its sad but building a trust and loyalty I find has paid off for the most part in my working careerer.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t get it just saying its daft moaning that you should pay when I’d say 90% of drivers have just done it no complaints
Only 15 of us , no ones left in 12years of the company running so I’d say we’re valued and in a good job. Wouldn’t expect him to pay for anything I need though , but since we got our CPC paid I’m not complaining !

I think he is correct i dont know who paid for your licence but i paid for mine and it cost me a small fortune, this is my point why is it that truckers keep having these expensive upgrades ie cpc, digi cards and what ever is next why should we pay for upgrades to our regs .my sis is a sister at local hospital they have to keep having courses to keep up to date as do nurses and docs they don’t pay why should we. can they soon replace us can they ■■■■■■■■ country would be at a stand still. would the country carry on without nurses yes it would, people would have to go back to old remedies
