this has been doing the rounds localy on facebook etc now local news have picked up on it your views a few seem to think the poster didnt help the situation
At the start I would imagine the van was right up dashcam heros arse and he hung back to annoy him a little (pretty standard so no big deal), also when the road widens there looks like some wiggling going on so a possible early attempt was made to undertake earlier this doesn’t excuse what took place after as thats just stupid but i do feel towards the end of the video it was possible to re-overtake the van as he was slamming the anchors on thus annoying him even more.
Is it just me who would have followed him into the garage and banking on there being working cctv calmly wound him up with some soft gentle words of encouragement so he threw the first punch then what followed would be seen as provoked or self defence.
I find forward planning in these situations and taking things to the next level (not when at work though) the best option and not spunking me dashcum footage on the internet, getting over it and moving on is easier to. Unless of course the other driver is a big bloke then I let them off with a stiff private chunter to myself for the next hour or so…
Also spot the hand come into view via reflection which I presume is mr herocam making sure the footage is recoded as an event of internet worthy proportions is about to unfold (probably just expected a dodgy overtake, not the oscar winning performance of going off road a bit). This doesn’t excuse the numpty in the white van but does help nudge along my theory that dashcams can lead one to go looking for trouble and we may be entering into an era of addiction to dashcam dramas that lead many to try and create danger themselves.
from the posts on the facebook group this first popped up on last week the white van man is well known for maneuvers like this and has been reported countless times some are suspecting its a pool car being used by many different drivers
personaly would of backed off and left him to go have his accident elsewhere without involving me
Seems that the clip went from one person driving like a knob to two people driving like a knob.If I was so inclined I could be fighting and arguing all day every day,but all I want to do is get done and get home.I just take it for granted that I am gonna need to be on my game because of some knob doing something outrageous on the road.
What a ■■■■■■. If i had a ridiculous wig, i`d put it on, ban him, and empty his wallet. ■■■■ like that will eventually do it to the wrong person and get the battering they so justly deserve.
White van man is clearly a numpty and has issues - he drives up the bloody pavement to get past
So, WHY, especially if you’re the type of wuss that won’t get out of the cab to deal with things, would you then overtake and aggravate the situation? He’s past, let him go on his merry way and antagonise some other road user.
We all have had that idiot (most days really, hell, most trips) and we just let them get on with it, it’s just not worth getting involved in, but if you are going to aggravate the situation, might as well be willing to back it up and when he’s leaning out of his van, dive out of the truck and slam the door on his head
Unless white van man punches a taxi driver. He’s an amateur.

+1
Yep. Its going down a dangerous road (pardon the pun) as more and more people want more and more “hooligans” caught on camera to push their own youtube channels. Someone cut me up in slow moving traffic a few months ago. He got a flash of the lights (I had to be hard on the brakes as I was fully loaded with wood) and that was enough justification for him to stop/start and gesture out the window etc. I clocked the camera and had an idea what he was up to. He might not have been,he might just be an ■■■■■■■■ who doesnt appreciate that 44 tons cant stop in a few feet like a fiat punto. But it does make you think. How many instances of road rage footage have we seen where the camera owner was deliberitely provocative conveniently off camera? Remember the truck driver who jumped out his cab on the motorway? There was no excuse for that what so ever but who knows what the car occupents were shouting out the window at him?
I would prefer mr van numpty to be in front and have let him go first - then kept a very big gap between me and him
That lets me have control of the situation and would have allowed the dash cam to record any other antics he got up to from a safe distance

Dave you seem to have some sort of issue with dashcams. Take it you have been nailed by a dashcam lol so i can understand you being so against them.
I agree some idiots do antagonise others simply because it will look good on youtube. But as i have said before there are here to stay.Thats why i never get into confrontations . Just givedgives these idiots a stick to beat you with
The guy with then camera was fanning the flames by driving so slow, look how far the bus got away from him he must have been trundling along at 10mph,buses are hardly known for their acceleration performance but he left mr camera man way behind.
Maybe Mr camerman went out of his way to wind someone up to test his new toy (the camera) out■■?
No smoke without fire

Actually, service buses accelerate a LOT faster than an artic
I fitted a dashcam to my car after some youth thought it was funny to deliberately run out in front of my car when I was travelling through a 40 zone last year. If I’d have slammed into him, no doubt his two fellow plonkers would have tried to put the blame on me. The dashcam protects my license, my insurance bonus and my reputation - money well spent.
I capture plonkers on it, including crud drivers and those who make an error of judgement. I don’t put them on Facebook, but if I saw someone deliberately doing something dangerous and yes that includes trucks, buses and cyclists, then I would certainly consider handing the footage over the police. No good moaning about dangerous drivers unless you are prepared to do something about it to make the roads safer.
In this particular clip though, the van driver seemed to be going at a ridiculously slow speed and was effectively creating a rolling roadblock for no obvious reason.

The amount of times they have pulled out on me as I’ve tried to go around them…

Perhaps he was worried about an idiot behind him? If he wants to drive slowly, that’s up to him and he’s doing nothing wrong by doing so. It it still doesn’t excuse undertaking on the pavement!

Driving that slow causes problems as it forces other road users to take risks. I’m sure there is a law on traveling too slowly.

Don’t be ridiculous. Nobody is ever forced to take risks. Also, has anybody considered that he might have been hanging back from the bus because he could hear the ambulance siren but wasn’t sure where it was, and was giving as much room as possible for anything the emergency vehicle needed to do?

Nope never had my 15mins of fame but see where this is heading.
I’m just not a fan of squealing on others for things that are everyday occurences and especially then posting videos trying to get another driver prosecuted when the dashcammer is not whiter than white themselves and should man up and sort this out there and then.
That said some things are inexcusable (like driving on the pavement to gain an inagined advantage) which is where my argument falls down a bit and I also enjoy watching the videos…
I will be getting a dashcam myself as soon they will be a standard fit on new vehicles anyway and it will be silly not to have one.
I’m pretty sure if every moment of madness / bad judgement / or just bad luck of mine was caught on camera I would no longer have a clean licence.

They aren’t forced to take risks.
