I sleep with my head behind the steering wheel, in other words on the offside of the truck, but whenever I have had a LHD truck I have still slept with my head behind the steering wheel, in other words on the nearside so I change my sleeping position by 180 degrees.
I tend to sleep with my head on the opposite side to the carriageway, thinking that if any ■■■■ slams into me during the night my head is at the opposite side. If that makes sense
Always head behind the steering wheel, dont know why i just do. Tried the other end of the bunk, but it just felt wrong…
When i had thr LHD Actros, i stll slept with my head to the OS of the vehicle, but on the top bunk, The top bunk for no other reason than i am a fat ■■■■ and the top bunk is wider!!
always sleep away from the traffic coming up behind so sleep on the n/side legs to the s/wheel, i dont sleep in laybys wouldnt even think about sleeping in laybys but seen a fair few accidents esp on the A604/A45 ooh sorry i mean A14 where some one has fallen asleep and crasy bang wallop into the side of the cab parked up in a laybay along there,i always think i would sooner loose my legs than my head, thats why i sleep head to the kerb on the n/side and laybys should be filled in and band!!! fvor over night sleeping my op anyway
AS A RULE I sleep with my feet behind the wheel if am in a single bunk truck no particular reason other than the fact the night heater vent is behind the wheel. If the night heater vent comes out passenger side then I swap round.
If I am in a twin bunk truck I always use the top bunk and am not bothered what way round I sleep.
Iv’e always slept with my head behind the drivers seat.Even when i had a daf 85 and the light and heater controls were the other end.
The top bunk on a eurostar was about the best nights kip ive ever had.
Mr B:
I sleep feet behind the steering wheel because in fh top bunk that where the light is.
Fair enough, but could I just ask why you sleep on the top bunk? It has never occurred to me to do this, what are the advantages?
i find it utilises the space better. i keep my fridge behind the drivers seat, and when i’m parked up i sit behind the passenger, eat off of the fold down table. fold the passenger seat down and put my tv on the center of the dash and it feels quite roomy. the only draw back is it’s not so easy to climb into the top bunk so i have a small step ladder to helpgoing up to bed. it’s just like home
