Which Way Round Do You Sleep?

I depends which side the night heater controls are situated or how bad the truck is tilting when parked. I have a proper mattress and make up a full bed with two sheets a pillar and duvet but if the tilt is too much, I sleep on top and turn the heater up.

Head on passenger side as in an R series Scania, I fold the passenger seat down to make a bedside table and leave it like that all day, I also don’t bother making the bed wider behind the drivers seat so my legs aren’t that bothered about lack of space wheras might feel a bit closed in if my head was there.

slept behind wheel in the f12 and daf xf,but head on pass side in magnum  think it was just easde of controls in magnum

It depends on the camber of the road, I cant sleep if when Im lying down my feet are higher than my head ( If that makes sense)

When I worked for the Dutch driving a scania, it was any side that I fell on to…Now I work for a proper company it depends on the camber, but I do have a camping wardrobe behind the drivers seat with all my crap in, works a treat!!
As for the FH safe take it out.

Like most urban youths, i sleep on the flip side

fo shizzle

etc… :sunglasses:

Always with me feet going downhill

In the Stralis the night heater is loud from the outside and you can hear that if you sleep with your head over it on the drivers side. Also the fridge is next to the vent so you have that running aswell. Head at Passenger side for me

I sleep with my feet on the pillows and my head at the other end
But seriously, I might have had my class 2 a matter of monthes but Ive done a week or so away as a porter on removals, and I think I slept at whatever end the night heater/reading light/alarm clock was on a Scania 4 series (the driver told me to sleep in the cab as I was much taller than him so he took the cab top pod  )…
Thats how I know which fuse to pull to disable the speed limiter on a 4 series, buts that for another day…

You were an intercity coach driver weren’t you? And now you’ve got your HGV. Lol I have done the opposite. You left coaches for trucks, and I’ve just left trucks for intercity work

different strokes for different folks huh lol

Ive never driven a coach apart from the one that I took my bus test in, Im a bus driver and Im still driving buses…
A porter on removals is effectively a drivers mate…

My bad. thought you were on the coaches. Go on them, I’m driving Volvo B12 tri axle 50ft things with I-Shift and all that jazz. Much better than the normal service buses lol

I sleep with my head behind the wheel, namely because the people that sell trucks over here (DAF, MAN, Volvo, Scania, Iveco and others) seem to have got it into thier heads that we drive on the right. How do I know this■■? Because the daft sods seem to like to put the heater controls, light and other stuff on the drivers side.

Surely common sense would dictate, steering wheel on the right, bunk controls on the left.

feet at the wheel for me,cant sleep with my head up that end, must be something to do with getting as far away from the wheel as possible.
question for daf"why presume i want to sleep behind the wheel by fixing the nite heater and reading lamp there?".

stvme2519:
sleep head behind wheel …cant sleep other end cause of stupid safe in volvo fh that i never use …does me head lol …can never get comfy

Same as him…plus the TV is on this wall so I can lie back and watch tv…

depends on where im parked up and as there isnt much room in my CF85 cab with a weeks worth of gear init

laybys my feet are by the wheel yet when im parked up on a services ( very rarely) or outside a drop i have my head by the wheel for some odd reason dont know why it is but its something ive always done

the position of the lights in the cab doesnt bother me as I got the fitter at work to wire in a small flourescent light in nthe middle with a pull coerd on it in the middle of the cab roof over the bed

Headbehind steering wheel on top bunk of TGA XXL.

Those of you with an MAN will know that the bottom bunk also folds flat to the wall, i leave mine up 100% of the time. Makes the cab feel massive inside.

My drivers seat is on double runners so then goes back to the cab wall, a la 4 Series topline passenger seat. Also it gives me internal access to the outside lockers and storage under the bunk beside the fridge.

The top bunk bed and mattress is identical to the bottom, and heat rises, so nice and cosy up there. And when it gets cold i can reach to the microwave from the top bunk, put my bean bag hot water bottle thing on for 3 mins and back to sleeep nice n cosy!!!

If olny they would make the fridge fit better so there was a bit more floor space it would be perfect, apart from the Glass everywhere!!!

Remember your break isn’t legal if your head is less than 4ft from the wheel

Head behind the wheel, unless i`ve had to park near a busy road then i make myself swop. You never know whos going to fall asleep and side swipe you.
