Having just compiled a CD of my favourite driving songs (you know the ones - they get you in the mood for turning up the volume and driving down the most boring roads without a care in the world), one of them got me thinking about songs with great intros to them.
Which songs do you think have the best ones??
Here’s mine to start off.

And just stretching the envelope slightly - the best instrumental track!!

The first one off the top of my head was Dire Straits money for nothing. Probably not the greatest, but it was instant in my mind. NEXT!
The Best Intro Ever!!
Turn the volume up, the bass up, and listen to 6:48 of pure class!!
I know lots will disagree with me here!!

it was on thier first album “queen” in '73

Better not tell you that I’ve got it as my ringtone then
Clapton, Layla. Now that’s not so much an intro, as an opening salvo!
3 from me then
Highway Star If you’ve got a recording of Deep Purples 1985 Knebworth gig you know thats a belter.
Money by Gun. Very underrated Scottish band.
Wish You Were Here Great for singing along to.
Enjoy

Back to queen for me
ie.youtube.com/watch?v=RnrXiaPVe … re=related
absolutly love this track and the video
you watch it and realise that Christopher Lambert is actually on stage with them, not just in the film clips. (about 1min 10 secs)

I’m going to have top revisit the Queen back catalogue 'cos I’d not heard of this one either. GREAT TRACK!!!
Roger Taylor is without doubt my favourite drummer of all time.
Closely followed by Phil Collins. Don’t believe me? Watch This
Here are a few (in no particular order) of my fave intros… I really have too many to choose from, but these (IMHO) are great classic intros! The links all go to YouTube:
Gimme Shelter - The Rolling Stones
AC/DC - For Those About To Rock
AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long
Rush - Spirit Of The Radio
Small Faces - Tin Soldier
■■■■ - I could fill the forum with great intros!! But those are enough for now!!
there can’t be many intros better than this one,
it grabs you by the throat and doesn’t stop shaking till 5 minutes after they’ve finished
