Which one should i go for

Hi all, have been looking for my break in Class 2 driving and have now got 2 potential offers, not sure which one to go for.

First is driving for Brakes, between 15 -20 drops a day around high streets and stuff like that, so probably not the nicest of jobs, but still more than willing to do it, 5 days a week.
Second is cement mixer driver for the local quarry pending interview outcome, mon-fri plus sat on rota.

The first job is agency, the second job is direct with the quarry.

Any comments more than welcome, thanks.

2nd one will be easier

If you’re looking for your break, take what comes you way.

2nd as it is direct the agency can drop you at any time without notice

Colz worked for brakes for 3 years you get treated like a labourer with a licence carrying 25kg bags of spuds up stairs, working in -35c in the winter soaking wet is no fun most days its 35 to 40 drops.
Only good thing was Christmas week booze and cash from customers but 1 week a year really not worth it.

Jeff

Number 1.

Which brakes depot?

id personally go for 2 as well, full time work is best imo

Mixer for me but was on for tarmac with em good times have a crack with the site lads but some do get funny over the mix. But then again i hear at brakes they chase your tail all day.
Also whats your location because i could point you somewhere if your local to me

-35c bloody cold when your hands were wet if you didnt have gloves on and put your hand on the metal cages reaching for a box your hand could stick to the cage never pleasant.
Where I am now wonder why I work in a t shirt in the winter when you work in -35 all day being outside doesnt feel cold lol.

-35 will be the freezer temp of the unit/building

-35 in the back of the truck

Sorry forgot about this post, thanks for all the replies, interview today for the cement mixer job, sounds like its the better one to go for, fingers crossed, its working for Wright’s Minimix, but based out of the quarry so i can work out, can’t even believe ive been called to an interview, was a bit surprised but will try my best.

The Brakes depot will be the one in Bradley Stoke, North Bristol, i was told that it would be no more than 20 drops a day, then again could be lying to me, 5.30am starts.

Im located just south of Bristol, close to Avonmouth and Portbury docks area.

Im having trouble signing onto agencies as they require an upto date passport, which i dont have, so just trying to get that sorted now, but will be at least a week till i get that back, the only agency i have found that would take me is the one that has offered me that Brakes job.

Tell em you don’t have a passport a full birth certificate will do after all not everyone has a passport.
to be honest why do you think Brakes is the only place the Agency has that will take a newbie
If its a no no on the Mixer Go to 24/7 at Yate and see Jess… Harvey went and saw her and had an offer temp to perm within 24hrs he’s a newbie too

yea i dont have a birth certificate, im not in contact with my parents, my name was changed when i was quite young, the name on my birth certificate is different to what my name is now, so bit difficult.

yea makes sense why Brakes want me lol, i tried 24/7 but they require passport / birth certificate
