Which companies pay for breaks and which don't?

Hi

I know Turners of S and Malcolm Logistics do not pay for breaks if you are on hourly rate for them.
What other companies pay and don’t pay for breaks?
I reckon that’s an important question to ask at interviews when applying for an hourly paid job as it adds or takes away a few quids from your daily wages.

Thanks

We dont get paid for an hour, so we take an hour.
I have never worked anywhere outside transport that paid breaks either, when on the buses we had half hour unpaid a day.

I see it as just a dinner time

ASDA paid from clock on to clock off.

You 100% sure on that are you?

He is 100% correct. Turners DO NOT pay the first 45mins of break. He did also say if you are hourly, which by your other posts, you are not.

Griffin freight pay breaks I know that cos I work there :grimacing:

We don’t get paid breaks. The amount of time depends on how long your shift is. Anything from 45 to 90 minutes will be deducted

Stobarts take .5 hour of you, wether it’s 8 hours or a full shift.

Maritime do pay your breaks. One that springs to mind

Apologies, selective reading lol, I didn’t know they did that, that’s shocking considering their hourly rate too.

It has always being a bug bear of mine not paid for breaks. At my present job i am paid for breaks, but at a previous job on night trunking i was knocked an hour off even if i didn’t take a proper break. So i ended up having a proper break in the services and when i was late back in the morning with the groupage i would be questioned on this.

Also youre within your rights to walk away from your wagon for an hour whether it has a high value load or not.Youre not being paid so why should you act as a security guard for free.

Very few hourly paid jobs pay right through.
Most deduct your 30 minute lunch break, some deduct your 15 minute tea break as well.

Some transport companies, mostly those who pay hourly, also deduct either 30 or 45 minutes.
Some even deduct an hour.
The answer is to take your time off. If they don’t pay it, don’t work it.
Simples!

Get paid right from start to finish, although our contract says we will not be paid for breaks. There is give and take at our place; works for both the company and us drivers.

It would be good if you could name companies that you work for/ or know of that pay or do not pay for breaks, so someone might benefit from the info when thinking of applying for a job.

Most transport firms don’t pay breaks, perhaps 10% do.

Ive driven for quite a few companies through agency only 2 so far deducted breaks.

Actually I think the answer would be to take the “break not paid” back. If I get 45min taken off me I will have another 45min on their time. They have yet to pull me up on it. I do it everyday.

DHL Kuehne Nagel and Wilkos all pay from clock on to clock off

6% deducted from our total wage at end of the week works out about 38 mins a day from a 50 hour week :frowning:

I charge from the minute I leave home to when I get home. The joys of self employed and a good working relationship with decent firms. I don’t take the pith with them and they value me. If something needs doing I will do it.
