Looks a nasty mutt to me - dog’s cute though
But they do both have a Whippet’s build.
Irish Wolfhound, Great Dane, Bull Mastiff (preferably one that slobbers 24/7) all superb for life in a truck!
What about a Shetland pony or perhaps even an aquarium!
Pets and trucks nah.
Each to their own fella.
They don’t beat the wife unless of course you like ■■■■■■ dogs
used to take my mates staffy with me in a rigid years ago. Right fierce looking dog, but soft as anything. jet black, with the most evil eyes i’ve seen on a dog. But i’ve never met a more pleasant and easy going mutt.
If i got messed about in a yard, i’d say, i gotta let the dog out to stretch his legs. This hound would be staring at the forky man, “Erm, err, i’ll get you tipped quick mate so you can go up the road and let him out, he dont look too happy.”
Result.
Think a Border Terrier would be best - same dimensions as a Jack Russell, less snappy and they don’t moult!
■■■■. best breed 1996.
she don`t go to work with me,but she loves going in the landrover.what is it with dogs in cars/trucks?,they really seem to enjoy it.my dog will sit in the car on the drive all day if you let her, even if you aint goin nowhere.
all my previous dogs have been this way apart from one, which was absolutley terrified, but i think that was down to the fact that she witnessed a fight between one of my other dogs and one of my mates dogs in the back of the van…■■■■■■ her head up at the time coz she was only a pup
Used to have a mongrel Jack Russel when I started with BRS -it loved it.Got stuck one night in Reading in an old rigid 4 wheel Albion. Old Bob was up all night spotting rats on the car park & I tried to sleep over the wheel - early future bookings for digs for me & last trip for Bob!
Used to take my English Springer Spaniel but was a problem on nights out, he wouldn’t get in the top bunk. Only did it a couple times, he was a big dog and when stretched out took up all of the bunk.

Circa 1968 21 year old with my dog “Judy” a pedigree Whippet that I bought for 1 shilling (5p)(another story!) while I was still at school in '63,she was 2 year old at the time and went everywhere with me,she had to stay at home when I started at Brady’s but when I got my first motor she resumed her travels, did 000’s, of miles in my D1000 up and down to London, but with one difference,I stayed in digs, which is an alien concept these days !! She didn’t cast a hair either and was quite happy in the cab, good judge of a character as well, she put the [zb] up one or two that whipped open the passenger cab door now and again. However when I had to pack up driving and had to remain in the office she was getting on a bit so was quite happy to lie on a rug under my desk.I had to “put her to sleep” in late’75 aged 14,but she sure had been a great pal over the years and when the next new tractor arrived (an ERF “A” series Jan '76) I gave it the fleet name “JUDY” and true to form it was one of the most reliable, hard working, motors we had ever run !! Cheers Bewick.

For a companion, can`t make friends with my own race, which is best,a Patterdale,Jack Russel,Cocker or Springer Spaniel, all good for less hairs to clean up.
The Dutch and German drivers used to go all over Europe with a cab canine, beats taking the wife.Lhasa Apso. The dogs are great and they never molt
THIS,got 2 of the little buggers, amazing little things.

…All he said was “We should put them in every cab to stop thieves”…Often seen pulling up to the next pump along on a by-gone night trunk. Who in their right mind would take this beast on?
Looks like the wife.

My girl:
She’s only a mongrel, but I love her to bits.
I have a toy poddle which comes wi me on occasions ,never the mixer just on the train.
but so saying i worked wi an old boy that carried a whippet with him from when he was demobed after the war until he retired mid 80s, goes without saying not the same whippet …reason was he had a bad time in the war and having the dog with him gave him someone to talk to …,Bewick there is no a lot o room in a d series with a driver ,whippet ,and me getting a lift up the road wi my gear
if old bobby had his way i would have been in the tipper body when getting a lift
Hiya i used to take my yorkshire terrorist with me. one time i was dropping a pallet off at the new terminal
at gatwick(19years ago)the security said no go it will have to stay here, so in the cabin she stayed, i was in
tipped and out in 10 mins no probs then picked up the yorkie. (well have you ever left a ■■■■■ for 10 mins)
as soon as she saw me she P…d and P…d all over the floor of the cabin…i said i told you she’d be OK in the
truck…as the guy got his mop out to clean the floor
John
We have a lurcher cross whippet and a staffy cross jack russell, Would love to take the lurcher cross in the truck as she loves being in a car but both moult and I couldn’t imagine tramping with a dog, too much hassle! Used to work on forklift trucks in the 90’s, mate had a staffy and it went everywhere, if you were passenger in his van the dog would sit on you with its head out the window!!! Brilliant dog
