Wheres your head in the bed?

todays big question is this…what side of the bunk do you kip in…is your head n/s or o/s and why.? do you swap sides on euro work,or just always the same side.?

Major issue with the Daf xf… Coat hangers and buttons on the same side, O/S. Used to sleep with my head under them just so I could close the sunroof without getting up in the middle of the night.

The Merc bunk head adjustment end of the mattress and ‘control’ panel are on the n/s so that would be the obvious choice for me but 2 of our drivers sleep with their heads on o/s

Always nearside for me, as far away from drivers seat as possible. Me Renault is geared up for more offside head action but being a loose cannon I’m still nearside.

There’s some merit to the point of being away from the roadside in case your one of these tight arsed truckers who park in laybys.

If I drove a left ■■■■■■ abroad I would be nearside also thats our offside. Now I’m confused as I’ve just reminded myself of an incident with a left handed prostitute. She made me sit in the nearside for hand relief while she sat in the drivers side. Nice bit of parking to be fair.

The 53 plate Scania I had for my first job had all the controls on the nearside but if I was going for a kip (was container work) then I slept with my head at the offside.

Smash the system!

I don’t do nights out as has already been discussed at length on here before  but on the odd occasion that I have used the bunk I will lay my nut on the highest side depending on the camber

Near side for me :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Actros pilot so nearside for me.

N/s just feels normal dont know why.

Off side for me, closer to buttons on my MAN, and it’s a little bit wider up there

He doesn’t want to ruin his mullet…

Not sure what difference it makes in Euro or UK that o/p is on about. (unless he means lay by parking, so it wouldn’t apply to me anyway)
Whichever side the reading lights, or n.heater controls are on for me. Actros at present, so nearside.

My head is usually found half pecked to death from Mrs Beaver.

Maybe tramping IS the future.

I read that wrong at first, thought there was a ‘the’ between ‘from and Mrs’ …and that it was another Dipperdave post

if i’m alone it’s always opposite to steering wheel ,if the long haired one is with me it’s on the ■■■■ ,whoops :open_mouth: thought dipper would have been in first :unamused:

That can also be quite a traumatic experience Rob.

TART

On my own, off side. DAF XF106.

Adding a second question. Do you sleep on the bottom, or top bunk?

I’ve tried both and never settled on the near side for some reason, I believe that it’s illegal to sleep closer then 18 inches to the steering wheel as I was told by an ex SAS member at an RDC once and he assured me he was a driver trainer and knew the regs better then me, but I’m a rebel so I sleep the way that’s best for me even if it is illegal :sunglasses:
