I know we’ve only had apx 3 weeks of lockdown but it’s
Starting to feel like forever , can’t see this going on much
Longer but heard June , even 6 months mentioned
My own gut feeling is with Boris back it will
Start being lifted in 2 weeks

Annnnnnnnnnd, we’re off. AGAIN.
End of May, just in time for me to jet off to Jamaica.

That’s when I’m expecting it to be lifted , spring bank holiday week end
I’ve always had two months in my head, so that puts it mid May in my reckoning.
Not that it particularly means anything but its just my feeling.
The last place I’d want to be too soon after these restrictions we’re lifted would be stuck in a airless tube with a few hundred others.

Maybe some restrictions will be lifted in a few weeks or months?
Normality won’t be anywhere near until we have a vaccine. So, I’d guess on a year?
And even then it may be a different “normal”.

Totally agree I was in lanzarote in October and came back feeling like crap for about 4 weeks, the most obvious place I hot it was on the plane.

Why go back to being “normal”? “Normal” got us where we are now!

If you fly…
Business class only, you never catch anything.

I agree we may never see normal as we knew it.
Completely lifting the lockdown will just lead to a rise transmission of the virus again, unless there is an alternative plan, but then part of the length of the lockdown depends how long much of the population is willing to accept it.
I believe they’re looking at mass testing of both the virus and antibody as an answer to lift restriction, so they can quickly identify cases and isolate those people and anybody they’ve come into contact with, but it would require a massive up-scaling of the dire testing program we have now and regular testing of, if not the whole population, at least much of it, so that would become part of our lives and of course if they lose control of it, (and this could happen for a variety of reasons) then its back to lockdown if you can keep the public on your side.
From what I’ve read the vaccine seems to be a year to 18 months away, but then the urgency might shorten the normal timescales, however I don’t believe there is an effective vaccine for SARS yet.
An effective treatment would also mean those with acute symptoms recover quicker and spend less time in hospital especially in ICU and some who would have been hospitalised could be treated at home.
This virus is not going away, that was always going to be the case the moment the Chinese authorities silenced the doctors who identified it and people carrying it traveled out of area, there is no cure and it will continue to kill people.

Only way to travel, there’s only ever 13 other passengers in the cabin I fly with, nice to sit at the bar for a few hours, makes the 10 hour flight more enjoyable.
As for feeling like crap when you’ve been to Lanzarote, hardly surprising with the class of tourists that choose to spend their dole money travelling there.

Probably the most accurate guess but also quite depressing especially for some.

They are going to have to lift the restrictions gradually, if they have any sense.
I’d say allow people to start socialising & travelling again week 1, get that out of our systems then start opening up the shops/bars/restaurants sometime after.
If the flood barriers are lifted all at once it will be absolute chaos with crowds and ■■■■ ups everywhere, not ideal at all. I can envisage the queues for the shopping centres right now.
