Today, after reading this thread I enquired about having the Wed, Thu, Fri off, only to be told that them days had been fully booked since January! Wtf?
I don’t ask my employer if I can have certain days off, I tell them I am having them off.

My mate who works for Stobbies tells me the trampers at their depot have to fight for their Christmas hols every year,
For last 4 years they have only given him Christmas and Boxing days,.he’ll book more provisionally but they only let them know a week or so before,.so they can’t really make any plans.
A bit crap I reckon.

We’re “no hols in December”. Joys of supermarket. If it wasn’t for mu start time being so early I’d just be off Christmas Day but I get Boxing Day thrown in too. New Year is just New Year’s Day but that’s never bothered me.
So this year with rest days I finish Thursday 22nd? and I’m back Tuesday 27th
I told my Agency, to hold all work for me till 15th Jan, not interested in loads of shifts leading up to Christmas, I’m currently in Canberra, heading up to Brisbane for a week on boxing day chilled out with my son and daughter in law, oh, and the wife, you can keep the snow and ice.

I’m finishing some time on 24th, normally around 4pm then back on 26th. Though as I’m taking a reduced rest next week, I’d be due a full rest around Christmas. (should actually be 26-27th) So I’m guessing I’ll get 25-26th. Then normal work pattern over new year, whatever that’ll be.
I do like Christmas, but I like earning during the winter better.

I hope you get better weather when you’re there than I did.
Was in South Australia for a month, from mid Sept to mid Oct to see one of my daughter’s and a grandson. Spent most of the time in the Adelaide area, and there were a lot of wet and cold days. I could have stayed at home in Scotland and got that!!
Wasn’t all bad though, there were lots of good days, and I’ll probably go back again this year

We’ve been lucky me and the wife and were able to retire early. Finished back in July.
For years I was on dray work so minimal time off over Christmas. After that, I was tramping on milk so rarely off. I finished doing nights at Aldi so back in Boxing night and New years day night.
This year, really looking forward to being around for the run up to Christmas with our granddaughter. A couple of pints on black eyed Friday, haven’t done that for years. followed by a session on Christmas eve just like we use to. Can’t wait really.
Finished 0130 Friday 16th and return Monday 30th January at 1700hrs. Saved a bit of overtime over the year as time in lieu- thankyou very much
Finish Saturday back in Tuesday both weeks -the joys of being on the bins.Still 4 days on treble time Cheers Ray
First day of hols yesterday, had a day out in the pub watching the W. Cup final with a mate, great day out…although a bit later than we planned, but that was because the vibe was good.
Got a day planned with one of my girls today (as long as she’s ok, bumped into her and her mate last night, and as we were heading home,.they were staying out)
Then a look out with a another couple of old mates over 2 days, that I ain’t seen for a few years.,
Then another day out with my eldest girl to get advice on the wife’s xmas presents, both days with the girls with meals out (that I’ll be paying for
Then Christmas weekend
Then another week off, to sort out, and the wife is off work to spend time with.
(Only prob so far is I’m awake and up this time of morning until I can adapt. )
Life’s good presently,.I can’t understand these guys who get bored whilst at home,.wanting to be back at work, and would rather be sat behind the wheel of a ■■■■ truck.
I could quite easily and gladly live the life of a man of leisure.after a lifetime in this game, I can deffo see why the rich upper classes don’t work.
Rest days Thursday Friday booked weekend off. Back in Monday to Thursday (extra shift on Thursday. My birthday [emoji3060][emoji322] plus bonus)
Rest day Friday birthday holiday Saturday.
Rather have my holidays away in the sun.
