When did you last look and digest?

Of course they haven’t. Most motorists think they’ve passed the L test (which is actually a low standard of driving but a good foundation to build on) and think they can’t possibly have anything to learn and are the best driver in the world. Therefore most people’s driving gets worse rather than better. And then we can move onto another debate about advanced driving and how some think it’s a waste of time and they’ve nothing to learn.

You are on the ball as usual son but you never said when you actually last looked?

random testing would be the only way to keep folk keeping up to date with it- with random thrashing [say every 50] at the roadside to anyone who fails dismally . believe the accident rate would fall and save on hospital cases . Actually i was talking with colleagues about how the police could/should be allowed to thrash publicly any folk found carrying a knife, and if you have been found with a knife subject to follow up searches for 20yrs

I’ve looked within the last couple of months and I even did an online practise theory test as I was looking into doing category A. Still might. Before that probably looked about 2 years or so before when I also bought a copy of road craft.

I tried reading a little about a month ago, everything was so boringly written - disclaimers, lengthy explanations of obvious things, this but not that unless the other OR another, bla bla bla. Gave up in about 30 mins. Good for checking something you’re unsure of, read the whole thing again? I’d sooner shoot myself with a crossbow.

Yeah that’s what I like to hear. Good Man. When you say Cat A do you mean the ADI 100 hundred questions? Roadcrafts excellent but must admit to not looking at any since I retired.

Geez you are meant to be a professional, you need to know  Try Roadcraft or there are other books on the market specificaly for LGV’s. Get stuck in, you might just learn a thing or two.

I done a mock test, failed dismally

I guess we are all guilty, as you get older the job becomes a means to an end and that’s all.

I carry one in my bag. Supplied by my employer too.

(Oh, you mean actually read… )

Have they actually updated the stopping distances for cars at certain speeds yet?

Just flicked through it and yes its bang up to date!

Dispaly your tax disc, I think thats three years out of date.

Park you car in your garage, this will be the garage thats to small for a normal car, or the garage most new houses dont even have.

Quaint might be a good word for the book.

I seem to have managed 36 years of driving without reading it [emoji849]

Quite agree, the highway code is configured for some utopian vehicular dreamworld. I have a copy in my work bag and every now and then I get it out. Usually to make sure I’m in the right after some prick in a car has shouted abuse at me. I usually am.

My personal favourite is rule 221, but rule 174 comes a close second.

If the “10 significant changes since 2015” are anything to go by then no point keeping up to date then.

“If you install a radio…”

Do they think we’re all able to do more than stand and drewl at those car radios on Halfords!? Radio, yeah, if we win the lottery! :open_mouth:

As for read it, think I did briefly look when doing HGV theory but the vast majority of those changes have no effect on most people.

The answer to your first question would be I am not sure because I have not got a copy of the latest one. What I would say though is why would they need to bother when the majority have no idea how to keep a safe distance. It would make no difference, they would still all be nose to tail and ploughing into each other most weeks.

Regarding your other picks, why not choose something that has actually got to do with driving. :unamused:

Obviously like yourself, incident free as well. Maybe you should crawl back up your own ■■■■■■ pal rather than preach utter rubbish.
