I seem to have managed 36 years of driving without reading it [emoji849]

Yeah I can imagine. A true professional at work.
Obviously like yourself, incident free as well. Maybe you should crawl back up your own ■■■■■■ pal rather than preach utter rubbish.

I am not preaching anything. I asked a simple question. Rubbish? What rubbish?

Have they actually updated the stopping distances for cars at certain speeds yet?
Just flicked through it and yes its bang up to date!
Dispaly your tax disc, I think thats three years out of date.

Park you car in your garage, this will be the garage thats to small for a normal car, or the garage most new houses dont even have.

Quaint might be a good word for the book.
The answer to your first question would be I am not sure because I have not got a copy of the latest one. What I would say though is why would they need to bother when the majority have no idea how to keep a safe distance. It would make no difference, they would still all be nose to tail and ploughing into each other most weeks.
Regarding your other picks, why not choose something that has actually got to do with driving.

I didnt pick them for any other reason than they were the first two I saw, made me smile and at that point wisely gave up.
Correct me if Im wrong the whole thing is meant to be about driving and roadcraft?

If the “10 significant changes since 2015” are anything to go by then no point keeping up to date then.
It said 48 changes since 2015 on the site I looked at, being a sceptical bar steward my first thought was, how many changes in the years before?
I even tried their mock theory test, 44 out of 50 will do me nicely and not bad for someone who has not read the highway code since passing their motorbike test over 30 odd years ago.

I don’t know how old your Highway Code is, but the current version makes no mention of tax discs:
“Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). Vehicle Excise Duty MUST be paid on all motor vehicles used or kept on public roads.”

8 months ago. Went through it in detail with a driver I was training. He passed his B in The Netherlands so never encountered our Highway Code before so I went through it with him.
Shows too, I did the quiz and got 9/11, the only two I got wrong where the picture ones because I haven’t installed flash on my new laptop!

Seems like you are a Trickydick and reading an old version.
Hate to say it but you are wrong. The HC is split up into sections and the picks you made I believe come under law.
TBH there are far better books for LGV driving but not many seem very interested considering it is their livelihood and how easy it is to find yourself in bother on the roads these days.
Just completed my 35 hours DCPC training and received new card so must be up to date with everything - mustn’t I?

It did say 2019, but as has been pointed out by more posters than just me, its pretty carp regardless of age.
Blimey! it’s been a while! These public safety adverts were popular at the time

Brilliant eh, the basic rules of driving and some on a professional drivers forum think it’s crap.
The truth more like is that some can’t be bothered to read it because they find it boring and don’t need to read it because they have passed their test. It’s fairly obvious from the driving we see in the UK there are plenty who have no idea of the correct rules but they all think they are the best driver in the world and everyone else is at fault but them.

Well it is a professional drivers forum, but that doesnt mean all the members are pro drivers, bit like the highway code not being perfect.
