Quatermass and the Pit!

Prisons are okay, they’ve got rules and have to follow them, you either accept those rules or bugger off whatever you’re supposed to be delivering and look for a new job.

A driver in a firm I used to work for was used for sniffer dog training, he didn’t see the package get planted and was ■■■■■■■■ it when the dog found it

I have been doing to a place where they like me to press a button and if it goes red they insist they wave a metal detector over me. And also that they route through my bag. They never do this on the way in… So how they would know if I took something or brought it with me I don’t understand.

I’m obviously concerned that they could be planting drugs, weapons or other illegal stuff in my property. Or indeed could be interested in stealing from me. Whilst one is taking my attention with his detector wand the other could be having my satnav away.

So I am considering writing up a little document for the security to sign. And insisting they turn out their pocket and allow me to pat them down to check for contraband before they go near my bag and after they have finished. I want to write a document so that they understand that this is because of genuine concerns and not because I’m being difficult. I wondered if anyone else had anything similar?

**And yeah I don’t wanna go there anymore and it will be a lot of fun to wind them up. I think it would be a fitting way to play them at their own game.

Never ever ever ever deliver to Sellafield, if you do, take your document and let us know how you get on. :open_mouth:

Or into a closed prison!!

Steve

Most of the security bods are decent enough, and they ain’t all half wits or little hilters despite what some think, they know who’s worth searching and who isn’t…or rather they know who’s stupid enough risk their job and reputations for the sake of something pilfered :unamused: , it’s not usually drivers that get caught out nicking stuff out the warehouse it’s usually the warehouse staff, but now and again they find something unexpected, like ‘Mace’ in one EE warehouse lads bag, that led to him being given the heave ho and the old bill involved.

If you get on with them they can make your life a hell of lot easier than otherwise, if you wind them up or try to be a bit too cocky they’ll remember you and they will return the favour, and they tend to move between sites and companies so it’s too easy to queer your own future pitch by being a clever ■■■■.

In other words bend down for them i think the op is talking about self respect and standing up for yourself not licking someone up the back side but if that’s your thing go for it

you only need to look at (fell off the back of the lorry) on the old time companies and lorries thread, to see why companies have search procedures,

FFS they must have opened to asylum, yet another insecure troll let loose [emoji6]

Nobody ever gets to do a body search, or even a pat down, of me. They can ask all they like, it is NOT happening.

I do think it makes them feel important to be rub down by a stranger

Its ok if the company pays your wage but if not thats another story

If you think gate security bods are a pain , our son and wife arrived at Manchester airport from America . He had a keyring on him with a Glock automatic on it , all of 15mm long . The guy was adamant that it had to go in the bin as a weapon . Son was having none of it so he posted it home from the airport . I wonder how much security make on the side flogging these little trinkets ?

I lost a bottle of Tantaliser because I was innocent in the way of customs.

I would simply point out that anything small enough that it can’t be seen through the windscreen, let alone stuffed into your underpants, is too small to be detected by any reasonable random search at a gatehouse.

I don’t mind letting someone climb the steps and have a glance in the cab - and on the couple of occasions it’s occurred, the security guys themselves acknowledged it was a futile activity - but I wouldn’t submit to a body search or allow my bag to be turned inside out, or even allow the cab to be turned inside out for that matter.

But just look at what some of the excuses for men are saying… one thinks it’s trolling to ridicule them back with there rubbish. And another is telling us to be scared as they can make our life difficult!

They can’t make my life difficult. My truck would go through their carrier before they put their hands on me. I’ve let them (out of shock) once go through my bag. And next time they will be degraded in a similar way if they try it.

I have far too many offers of work to put up with this rubbish. I can pick where I go on agency, so I’m not living in fear of anyone.

Why shouldn’t these places try and protect there stock? There was obviously a problem of stuff being stolen for them to spend money on preventative measures.

Maybe were a t-shirt with IM NOT A THIEF on the front so they know they don’t have to search you.

All for them protecting their stock. I don’t invite people into my home I don’t trust. And then I don’t feel the need to search everyone. Perhaps if they bothered to recruit properly and took care of the people they employed they would encounter less tea leaves.

What’s more… I drive a bloody great truck out of the gates. If I wanted to rob them I’d simply pull over for a break and pass over anything I want. I don’t need to put it in my bag!

The policy is there to degrade and keep you in your place. No other reason.

I don’t see what’s so degrading about opening your back doors and letting someone you don’t know have a rummage around.
