We have a Daf 105 xf space cab on a 2007/07 so far this year alone its been off the road for 5 months
Work todate: New engine block after throwing a con rod out the side of the engine on the M4 at 56mph after 7 weeks at the dealer in Bristol we got a call saying we couldnt have it back as some had reversed into it causing the whole drivers side being replaced.
On its return i took a total of 10miles with a full load it stopped when Daf aid came out the gearbox had locked solid. After its above engine rebuild the gearbox was put back on with no oil in it after 2 weeks of arguing returnd to Bristol for a new gear box diff and propshaft
Other work include:
All 6 brake discs replaced
Front shock absorbers replaced
Air suspension air bags replaced
Cab mounts replaced
Just about all the wiring loom replaced due to water rotting the connections
Sounds like a combination of a jinxed truck and ■■■■ ups by those repairing it. Not good ! I thought that these new Dafs were good trucks now ?

I would say brake discs are part of normal wear and tear, and the shocks / airbags are probably due to nob head drivers.
The ERF ECX I had from new for 5 years, the only thing that didn`t break or fall off were the engine and box! The only thing was I knew within a couple of weeks when and what would fail, we had 7 of the ■■■■ things and would always break down with the same things about the same time.
The ECX was a sad end for ERF. I’ve never had an unreliable truck, closest thing was my previous S reg Foden 4000, burned out 3 alternators in the 3 years I drove it. Oh and the ABS warning light on my current Alpha gets on my ■■■■-comes on every 6 months or so.
I cannot say I have ever had an unreliable truck.
I have had uneconomical trucks like my old 141 that used almost as much engine oil in a week as the average car uses in fuel
Sounds like your 07 DAF was a bad’un and not representative of the marque
Have never liked Daf’s, they’re low rent in the cab. Had a 51 reg MAN 460 that ate alternators. A Stralis which most of the interior bits broke off and was prone to throwing injectors, also the windscreen wipers had a life or lack of there own and the electrics were too complicated for their own good. Have a four year old Scania with not one broken bit or button inside the cab, no elctrical faults or major component failures. Had an actros as my first motor but the dealer was crap. Only make I haven’t owned is a Volvo but the ones i’ve driven have been solid and the newer Renaults which are Volvo’s anyway so…
I had 2 mercs the mega space big cab things,Biggest pieces of ■■■■ i have ever had the misfortune to own
Maggie Dee’s take first prize ; I have broke down , GB,F,I,D,CH multiple upon multiple times with them. That includes Blizzards,M Blanc ,Abahns …& on & on.These things detested me

In fairness its had pretty much one driver from new apart from the odd time i"ve driven it on nights. We have 3 other Daf"s all of which are 07/08 all the same spec and all have little niggles with electrics mainly due to having 2 PTO"s.We also have a Scania 420 hi-line on an 08 which has never put a foot wrong but the driver is in his 60s and gentle as can be
i had a 2004 R series …hateful piece of [zb]…list of things that went wrong…inhibtor valve on gearbox 4 times in total once on the woolwich ferry 4pm on a friday afternoon lol…battery isolater switch rotted away air leaks water pipes/leaks bits of trim in cab falling off on top of that it was awful to live in…the first artic i had was a 2006 XF not too bad apart from a water pump on the M25 and the awful gearbox but it had an excuse as it was an ex Irlam cast off lol…iv got a Y reg Volvo FH 3 million k on it hasnt let me down (yet) in the time of had her

My employers’ Volvo FE7s have been a nightmare; Diffs replaced as they were so slow, one of the 4 wheelers king pins fell apart, ad-blue systems have gone wrong several times, air con had to be re-gassed already and one howls when driving into anything stronger than a gentle breeze.
Daf 85 6wheeler w&d . Never known a vehicle of any kind have as much down time as this lump of junk.
Quite glad when the boss said he would never own another Daf , or as he used to call it “the ■■■■■ money pit”

Anyone ever had a DAF that hasn’t needed an air valve?
