Ok when your trucking along…what do u tune into■■?..
Personally (assuming it’s a day run)…nothing before 9am…i just enjoy the engine noise and let my mind focus on this that and everything…if i’ve nothing to focus about…i might put the MP3 player on…but the only problem with that is u find yourself listening to the same thing all the time…even though i’ve got 40gig’s worth of stuff…
Come 9am depending on my mood and what their babbling on about…i might listen to Victoria Derbyshire…on 5 live…but i do find her show a bit too BBC…PC…all nicey…nicey…i mean once she was debating on the fact that people…take recreational drugs…and she couldn’t get passed the fact that people when taking them don’t give a monkeys it’s illegal…no matter what any caller said…and the fact she didn’t know anyone or where she could get hold of any…In the media industry■■?..yeah right!!!..she just kept saying it was illegal…(let me quickly make it clear…such is not my cup of tea…)…
Sometimes…depending upon where i am…may tune into the asian network…with Sonia…something or the other…she does a very good debate show…and makes the show accessable listening for everybody…not just asians
Come 10am til 1pm I’m a very happy man…always tuned in…Ian Collins…Talk Sport…■■■■■■■ funny…debate show…tells it as it is…no nicey nicey rubbish…cuts u down if your talking rubbish…good topics…then there’s the Moose…who reads the news…always has a terrible joke with his finally story…so bad there funny
After that it’s quite often back to the engine noise or MP3 player…used to listen to Jeremy Vine on Radio 2 all the time…but noticed he was way too nicey nicey…even to the most ridiculous people…and his debates…even when the logical answer was blatantly in your face…never came to any conclusion…he would read out emails and let on air…people with the most obscure views…and then say…‘Ooohhh but some people have these views’!!!..
Yeah 0ne in a million mate
…but what used to really tick me off with his show was…some of the pointless subjects discussed…and the snotty middle class dictating guests whom used to come on…simply telling u the obvious…the only middle class guest i liked was the military folks…whom didn’t beat about the bush with any nicey…nicey rubbish…‘This is how it is and that is that…tuff’…right on…it got to point where now if i hear his voice…(some may be offended by this) or Sally traffic…(sorry she’s too nicey…nicey also)…i get wound up dead quick…
Forget Steve wright…loved him and the posse on radio 1…but somehow he loves all his guests…nah not for me…
Johnny Walker…or Stuart Maconie…couldn’t be missed…business news…good music…great interviews…very sad its gone…i’ll give Chris a try…but it might be back to the engine noise very quickly.
Don’t like the commercial stations…too much cheesey music and ads…although if i’m in the north west area…Smooth FM…is a must…
Depending on my mood…Radio 4 is a good listen…but after a while feels like your in a library…got to get out into the bumping and jumping world
Hate driving in london…but if u tell me i’m going there…pure pirate radio…they have to replace the suspension…when i get back from bouncing around all day
Similar really, Radio 4 for the Archers, the plays and on Saturday morning, although I still miss Peely doing Home Truths.
Radio 2 for Ken Bruce, Terry and Paul Jones
Talksport on a night with James Whale and the worlds angriest man and sometimes listen to Ian Collins but all the presenters on Talksport cut you off if your opinion is not the same as theirs. apart from Keith Arthur, he will talk to anyone
pugwash:
105.2 Kerrang! when still in the midlands which sums up 95% of the day.
Me too, best radio station in the country.
On Tuesday I had an agency lad along as a porter and he was a fan of Radio 2, so being the considerate person I am I tuned the radio to it for him. By the end of the day I felt suicidal it was that bad. There is no difference between the presenters with each new one as bad as the last. They all talk the same way and churn out the same stuff. The music was generally OK but I couldn’t listen to that station again.
I am shunting at the moment so never out of range of Kerrang - I used to hate commercial radio, but in all honesty I would rather listen to the adverts on Kerrang rather than the morons that call themselves DJ’s on radio 1…
agree radio 1 is absolute ■■■■■■■■■■■■ i can just about live with…but the rest…ooooooooooohhhhhh please…thats another reason i hate having drivers mates…too many…simply too dumb to see how rubbish it is…same music show after show…the only two good DJ’s on 1…was…his honourable…John Peel…he played some crap…but it was good crap…and some absolute jems…which u will never hear again…and Annie Nightingale if your into that kind of music…but she only on early hrs thursday…i’m usually out of it…
tell a lie…Chris coco and Rob de Bank…5-7am saturday morning and sunday morning…nice chilled and alternative music…excellent reason to wake-up for those early morning weekend shifts
T’other week when I was driving an hour+ to work, the mornings (and so, the drive) flew by, listening to Chris Moyles. I have a habit of changing to Radio 2 only to listen to Sally Traffic and then back again.
Just lately, any station that is playing Artic Monkeys gets my ears; seems better to hear it on the radio than my CD’s??
