What about the youngest truck with high mileage, was on 58 reg last week with 979000 on clock

I drive a Merc Axor, have had it from new (61 plate, September 2011) & it’s currently on 115000k. How on earth has a 4 year old truck clocked up nearly a million ks? That would be nearly 3000 miles a week!!

2 drivers doing 700kms a shift is 1400kms every 24hrs.

So a truck is doing 440 (approx) miles twice a day? :open_mouth: Not very likely in the UK mate!

Might not be the norm but it’s possible. Parcel companies would be the most likely to rack up that kind of mileage on a truck I reckon. Constantly trunking between their hub and depots.

I’m not saying it’s not possible, just unlikely. I used to drive for Securicor Omega out of the Manchester depot. The night trunks were to hubs in Coalville, Newcastle, Glasgow, Bristol & London. If they used the same truck for each destination + return (and they ran 6 nights a week) not one of them would get anywhere near that sort of mileage. Most parcel companies have 2-3 different tractor units for each trunking route…when you have guaranteed time deliveries you cannot afford to run only 1 truck per route!

06 plate Daf CF about a fortnight ago, ignore the temperature reading, tge sensors ■■■■■■.

Jeez, a quick bit of maths says that truck would have to be doing 680kms every day since new.

Driver came in from another depot in a 62 plate and was talking about their older trucks, 58 plates with 500,000km on. He thought this was a lot until I told him our 11 plate units have clocked 330,000 already.
