What you getting paid these days?

Lucy:
Is that what your uncle gets Karl, or am I getting you confused with someone else?

Na, my dad.

You’re thinking of Ross

Sorry Karl… I do try and keep track of who’s who, but I’m forgetful at the best of times!

Had to ask, it was bugging me.

Coffeeholic:
You misunderstand, I meant that if they were only ever working as a shunter, never leaving the yard, they wouldn’t need to use a tacho and wouldn’t need to have rest days. So if someone worked as a shunter on a 4 on 4 off pattern they could quite easily work any or all of their 4 off days (rest days) as a shunter, i.e. not on tacho.

But would this not contravene the 48 hr WTD regs Neil■■? As they would not have POA to count towards their hours

As a shunter they come under the HAD rather than the RTD and could therefore opt out.

How do you work on a rest day then? i mean how does it tie in with Tacho rules?

Couple of possibilities. If where Tammy works they work 4 on, 4 off it would be possible to work on a couple of the 4 off days.

I seem to recall from another post that Tammy works as a shunter so might not be on tacho.

you got it…no tacho… so i can do 6 days every week also i dont need to uphold to the WTD either i need to have 24hrs rest in 7 days…i know that used to be 48 hrs in 14 days but it got changed lol… down side its 12 hr shifts

Not allowed there coffeeholic, once you put a tacho chart in and use you are bound by tacho rules, so if you shunt for say 4 shifts, thats ok , but when you put a tacho in, you have to take into account the rest of your working week , unless you are ONLY doing 14 days work on tacho!

Dont need tacho so not bound by tacho regs. also i have 12 hrs rest a day on normal shift if i drive i can still do 2 days a week as i still get 48hrs+ off between end of last shift and start of next weeks work. so no short fall on rest in any week. ive been out on the road 6 times in 12 months , like it to be more …honest

Right on lucy!!!..

mind you the old transport manager tried to get the shunters to be under the wtd. and as we dont get POA’s under the terms of the WTD it would have had put a stop to ALL rest day working. The new T.M. saw the light …thank god!!!

we can’t anyway record POA’s, as the trailer moves are put thro a computer screen similar to those they use on reach trucks in warehouses, and as we dont know when the next job is coming we dont know in advance of any POA’s under the regs. or of any known delays. we dont have one controller for work we have 7 areas that can send trailer moves to us

£9.50 an hour- 37.5 hour week-OT time& half-company pension(good one)
Mostly 7.5 t but some class 1 & 2 work and the downside is its delivering furniture so a LOT of handballing but I’ve been doing it 20+ years so I’m used to it!
