Hi all looking for you comments been asked today by the boss which I would like a man tgx xxl or iveco stralis hi way cab I think, be on a 2012 reg, I currently drive a renault premium so cabs bigger on both but iv not been in either to no which is better to live with ? Thanks
If it was my choice I’d opt for the MAN all day long. The build quality on the Iveco’s are poor coupled with electrical problems.
FFS how many bloody threads are you going to start asking the same question■■?
well I never heard of any u boats breaking down even though they lost twice.and the tallys would best know how to make reverse gear in gearboxes…bit of a no brainer id have thought?

Thanks for the replys I’d prefer the man my self on looks,
Don’t no why there are 3 threads I only did 1
Nice gaffer that you have got giving you the choice, its usually a case of you get what you are given,FYI id go for the stralis
There is both a tga xxl and a stralis where I work. Personally I much prefer the iveco to live in. There is a proper table to eat at, and the microwave fits underneath it neatly.
On the other hand the MAN cab is huge, but there is nowhere for your stuff. The cupboards are way too small for microwave and coffee machine, and there isn’t anywhere good for little things like your ■■■■ and sunglasses. It’s basically a big empty shell.
So there! A vote for the Iveco
I didn’t like the auto box on a Stralis I drove.
MAN all the way

Or in the little cubby behind the worlds most stupidly placed parking brake, the problem with two places in the photo is that Mr Sheenahollics will have spread the contents of 14 cases of the muck over the whole dash and sod all will stay there any more…
Given a choice i’d take whichever has the manual box, if they’ve both the auto it won’t make a scrap of difference cos they share the same carp box anyway, though MAN’s management meeting to decide if you should be allowed a gearchange today will be marginally faster than Iveco’s referendum time span.
The MAN won’t throw up the spurious warnings every day and if you look after it should be reliable…plus you won’t have to tilt the cab every time to add engine oil, Ivecos drink the stuff.
Most of our 11/12 & 13 plate Euro 5 TGX 26.440’s are having water problems, mine (13 plate-210,000 km) has had a Malfunction Light on for the past 3 months, apparently it’s to do with the fuel pressure but I’ve been advised that it’s ok to drive. (I’ve heard of this on other TGX’s) it’s been in the Garage for over a week now, I don’t rate the service much. Apart from that I like the MAN.
Hav’nt driven a Stralis or an Iveco for about 20 years, so my vote is for the MAN.
MAN is a decent cab but they always seem to wander when steering em down country roads ( or its my driving !! lol ) , Iveco despite being a cheapo truck they do drive well and surprisingly knock on a bit freighted or not , heard both of them are not reliable and MAN are over rated ( same as VW cars are, had one once nothing but trouble ), tell ya gaffer you want a proper truck Scania Volvo or a Daf .
Going back a few months, CM carried a story about serious mechanical problems with some MAN engines. Not talking minor niggles but major failures.
The current breed of Iveco engines are excellent: the same engines are used in CNH farm machines at much higher outputs than they are in trucks so they are very understressed in the Stralis.
Stralis cab is bigger inside than it looks from the outside.
Stralis is built in Spain, not Italy
Let the badge hate snobbery begin…
As always its horses for courses, I cannot fault the MAN and have never had any major problems, good on fuel and normal maintenance costs are good. Comfortable with loads of room and I think more than enough storage space, unless you are a natural hoarder. But from my point of view it comes down to overall cost and bang for your bucks, why should I buy a Scania/Volvo/DaF, same year same mileage but will cost me at least £15,000 more. Its a no brainer really, but that’s an OD view and not a Cab Jockey who doesn’t have to run it.,.,.,
I have just spent two weeks in a stralis brilliant cab design let down by everything else…it had a fridge freezer in it which i found more than adequate for a weeks supplies slept up stair so just folded bunk up every morning and then was able to sit at the table to eat my meals .you even get a fold down shelf for your tv …so basically put the man engine and chassis onto the iveco cab and you’ll have everything you need .
Iveco over the man every time
MAN if they were the only two choices!!!
