What truck did you all buy for your first wagon?!

F88 240 16 SPEED BOX , bought in 1982 for £2,000 ran it for 2 years trouble free then traded it back to the same dealer for an S,reg F10. The dealer gave me the £2,000 back in part x. From then on I only bought Volvo.

Started in aug1996 and bought this 1987leyland constructor kept it 9months and got a new scania.the ley
land was a great wagon but kept boiling up we changed everything radiator,head gasket etc but it just kept boiling till one day I went to Windermere with a load of sand and it started getting hot.i just thought sod it and kept going got tipped and filled it up with cold water at Ambleside out of the lake.it never used another drop of water after that it got exported to Barbados in1997

I’ll keep an eye out for bownessie next time I pass Windermere.but I have never had an engine as hot it was banging and cracking when I knocked it off I was convinced I’d killed it.i had commercial motor with me and I even rang somebody about an engine

the 143 was not one of Mr biscombs, I bought of Mr Stephen O Rouke whom was a owner driver for Baxenden Chemicals at the time I boought of him cheers :wink:

it’s a nice colour scheme, electro hydraulic lift tag was great in the winter or the woods it certainly got me out of trouble the few times i got stuck. ok the ride wasnt as comfortable as it could have been but they were a dammed good work horse, was that the 400 or the 420 142m you had

It was a 420 and painted by Dave Harris that was working for Stuart at the time I did a bit of subbing for Stuart. Know what mean with the tag very good for low loader work as well .
