but they also appear to be parked too close to the corner which would be an offence too.
Doesn’t seem to be around Ipswich. One of the roads I used to live on, there was always someone parked right on the corner, obstructing the view when pulling out. After a few near misses I contacted the police, who couldn’t be arsed to do anything about it, despite the fact there had been a young lad knocked off his bike, and a motorcyclist killed within a few months of each other, on the very same road, and there were concerns the obstruction could cause another accident.
When I was doing multidrop round Newmarket, there used to be a treet like that, about the same width, leading to the back of some shops, with a loading bay on one side and double yellows on the other. I used to do my drops from the loading bay, and could guarantee someone from the blue badge brigade would park opposite on the yellow lines, and obstruct everyone.
On my 2nd week into class 2 driving with an agency, I was delivering in Whitehaven, ■■■■■■■ and just finished my drop to find this in front of me…
Nice parking… I was in an unloading bay, and there wasn’t any signs with exceptions for the double yellow lines the car is on…
2 Ambulances squeezed past it whilst I was unloading… And the width of that gap, about 4 inches wider than an IVECO Eurocargo 18T… Cos I had about 2 inches at the most on each side
You should of put a nice big scrap mark all up along side of it, that would of taught him not to park where ever the hell he wants too!!
Does look abit tight, could you of reserved out if push come to shove?

I agree with push comes to shove

Yeah thats a good point could of taken a 15, unlikely he’d be long… Then again it is a bmw driver were talking about here.
Wouldn’t be surprised if it displayed a blue disabled badge, every ■■■■■■ seems to have one round here. Not even the coppers are interested in shifting them on.

Doesn’t permit them to park on double yellows though?
Corrr I know that feeling mate had a post office van did the same to me today on a major road near a crossing island I was in a scania artic and on test in Atherton About 2 ‘’ each side I told examiner i would have to clip the kerb on the island and he just said its ok do it .( so didnt get a penalty for it ).what makes me angry is that the driver saw us behind her with L plates on and still just jumped out and walked away rather than move another 2 ft down the road …
I just put it down to Ignorant idiots they are not thoughless just ignorant …

Blue badge does permit parking on double yellows but does not permit the driver to cause an obstruction - as the BMW clearly has.
There are local bylaws that can also affect the blue badge scheme.
Hope this helps, Pete

There’s one local bylaw they use in my area.
“Park where the ■■■■ you want. If you block other road users, don’t worry, you won’t get towed away, you won’t get a ticket, you won’t even be told you’ve done something wrong.”
I’ve been completely hemmed in twice this year, both times I’ve had to wait with plod or a traffic warden and both times watched some ■■■■■■■■ drive away without even a talking to.
This is the “Pet Hate” thread, right?

Does actually, but you still have to give consideration to other road users!
Very few motorists give a ■■■■ about other road users these days, its not just beemer drivers.
It mirrors the society we live in,its all about me,me,me, ■■■■ everyone else.

I stand corrected! The blue badge scheme is a great idea that has been widely abused unfortunately. I can’t remember the last time I saw somebody using a blue badge who didn’t appear quite capable of using a normal parking space. The use of it should only be permitted if the badge holder is actually in the vehicle. That would require somebody to enforce it though…
Short extract from directgov re blue badges.I have printed out on A4 and leave on offenders windscreen.I have a hoist to ship and unship my wheelchair through the o/s rear door so need the extra space round a blue badge area,The following are authorised to check displayed blue badges
-police officers
-traffic wardens
-local council parking attendants
-civil enforcement officers
They should produce an identity card with their photograph on it to prove they are who they say they are.
If an enforcement officer asks to see your Blue Badge, you must show it to them. If you do not, you will be breaking the law and could be fined up to £1,000.
Enforcement officers are not allowed to take away a Blue Badge unless accompanied by a police officer.
Misuse of the Blue Badge
Blue Badges are the property of local councils, who can take them away if they are misused.
The Blue Badge is for your use only, it is an offence to allow other people to use the Blue Badge to:
-do something on your behalf such as shopping whilst you stay at home
-allow friends or family to park for free even if they are visiting you
-let non-disabled people take advantage of the benefits WHILE YOU SIT IN THE CAR.It’s not illegal to remain in the vehicle with the badge displayed, if you are either:
-a Blue Badge holder
-a non-badge holder waiting for the Blue Badge holder to return
Whitehaven, huh? I think we just found the reason why Derrick Bird lost it.
wasn’t derek bird a minicab driver? one less of them is no loss to humanity.
The blue badge might let them wait on doube yellows, but they also appear to be parked too close to the corner which would be an offence too.
Thanks for getting me started on blue badge holders. I got slated on here some time ago for posting about those on the disabled gravy-train. They should put them back in those little blue three wheelers. If you’re that disabled, them how are you fit to drive anyway? It’s just ignorance and laziness mixed with stupidity and a generous helping of ’ [zb] everyone else’.
Rant over. for now.
