…it aint mine.
This is the crux of the matter! No matter how well you look after it,it aint yours! And operational requirements will always, always overide your sensetivities.
Just recentley come back from holiday, no dramas apart from the odd sandwich wrapper left in the door pockets, worst ive had is in my old truck (4 series scania) someone spilt coffee all over the centre console and left it
I know my truck gets used while im away so i take all my gear out of it when i leave so no fear of anything going missing, only thing i dread is coming back and finding a dented or damaged panel, i know its not my truck but i like to keep it looking nice for personal pride
its not just outside drivers left mine for a week another drivers was on mot so he used mine. when i got back it was full of what i thought was ■■■ ash . i complained to the traffic manager about this ■■■■ smoking in the cab to be told he dosent smoke it turns out he has exma and was scratching his elbows and what i thought was ash was infact dried skin all around the gearstick and the back of the seat

Too many people say “my truck”…its not yours, its the companies, and if someone else drives it, so be it.you beat me to the point.
IF it was theirs (bought & paid for) they`d have parked it up, & took the keys with em before heading off on holiday. If anyone expects their truck to be clean when they return from holiday, at least go to the trouble of leaving some cleaning materials (polish, dusters, etc) around, so that the profesional agency drivers can at least try to clean up before the regular driver returns
cleaned my cab out completely, left maps thought i was being considerate, left polish and a cloth ,got back to work tues passenger door smashed in ,yeah our yard is a bit tight thats what makes a driver!!! looked like the zb had added dust everywhere and left a bag of rubbish in cab and a nice pack of garlic salami in the fridge.but as some have said it,s not my truck but it,s my home 5 days a week. respect and manners cost zb all!!
Dunno then?:

$th generation now and been a Ltd Company for 60+ years. Started out as Master Porters in Manchester and carried on since then. Our family has been self employed since the 1800’s and even managed to retain our licence during the nationalised era. Never been one for making huge profits but we have always had a comfy life and i just cant imagine having to go to work for somebody else. Just because you cant deal with a big decision in your life and the pressure of a 24/7 job.
like i have mentioned before some people live and learn, Some just live. You my friend are obviously one of the latter and go out of your way to prove the theory’s of Charles Darwin and the idea of natural selection and the origin of species wrong.
i dont have this kind of problems when i go on holiday as the truck and trailer is parked in the corner of the yard and the keys (including the spare ones) are in my pocket. if the boss wants the truck when i’m on holiday (which has happend once in 5 years) he will ask forkeys to be left and will check motor outside and in when it goes out and same when it comes back but the guy who does our odd holiday relief is a ex driver so he knows the crack
I am getting fed up of the agency drivers using my unit at night and leaving me a pool of ash all over my truck I leave a no smoking please sign on the steering wheel so they know and they still do it! I have even explained that there is a bruch and polish with cloths in my drawers and if they want to smoke then at least clen the ■■■■■■ out after but no they insist of being complete ■■■■■! Have complained to supervisor who is in charge at our depot and he said he will “have a word with agency” but cant see owt changing, makes me wonder why I should spend money on keeping the thing clean and smelling nice for these nobs to come and ditch it.
Rant over, thank you
If you are a non smoker then they are illegal if smoking in it - point this out to them but it seems like you do not really mind as long as it is cleaned properly so offer them this alternative
Mine get’s parked when I’m not in it, one of the bosses may do a local in it, but that’s it. One of our blokes has just had 3 months off due to health problems & his motor never moved, it is the company flagship so that may be a little different, but in general they don’t get used when we’re off. I have to say it makes a refreshing change to finding ■■■ burns in the seats & curtains, a smearing of grease over every possible surface, suzies turned into a Chinese Puzzle that’s been dipped in grease etc etc.

Food crumbs, sandwhich wrappers, tobacco, under the seats and on the gearbox area, and a blue stain there too, guess from a biro that had leaked all over the shop.Plastic knife and forks from a take away found, the blue eyed boys would have their wagon valleted out,but not mine,i was on an Elite container contract with Brian Rayner.
