Just had a fantastic weeks holiday and decided to put my gear back in the truck ready for Tuesday. Its the moment i dread…what state will the truck be in?
Unlock the gate and already i can see the n/s rear mud guard rubbers snapped off.All because the lazy sods cant be arsed to use the air suspension.
All tyres have been kerbed…how hard is it to drive in a straight line?
The cab is full of crumbs, greasy gloves behind the seats and the number plate in the door pocket.
This is the worst it has been for a long time.
Yes im [zb] OFF.
So,what are your trucks like after"hoilday cover?"
Our bit tries to keep non-smokers on with non-smokers, tidy folk with tidy folk, doesn’t always work out/suit. Infact Im more than sure some people jsut work through there hols (Get paid obviously) so they dont let go of tehre unit, sad it is, but as you say nothing worse than coming back to a ■■■■ hole.
im dreading picking mine up to nite, i know the fella who has been driving it over the last week and hes not the cleanest of lads, he is one of these lads that don’t give [zb]about other peoples things, things you may have left in the truck to help him out, and he never Wash’s a truck and i like mine to be clean as i deliver a lot of chilled and frozen foods, anyway i will wait and see…
Mines not usually used when im off, our boss (LADY) tries to leave it parked up or send unit /trailor on service. if it is used then generally its left pretty clean
A little different as it was ‘own account’ but after a week or so off the boss would know that a driver coming back to their usual vehicle would spend up to 2 hours putting things right so planned the days work accordingly.
im off work for week and i know for a fact when i get back inside door trims will be covered in grease stains and water marks …stupid volvo design…ive took everything out this time as last time i had my tooth brush robbed…also i know that walk board will be full of grease …suzies will be full of grease and all lines will be tangled…
forgot also last time was off sun visor was ripped off…dreading going back
its usuallly not to bad if a dss tramper gets it for week …gets a mess when its returning to depot every day and any one and every one uses it
Im so sick to death of the state of mine when I come back off holiday, this time near side bumper smashed in ancillary bar on roof which holds number plate reverse camera and lamps was bent 45 degrees back, steering wheel scratched to crap, mudguards cracked, hadnt been washed for 3 weeks , new near side window as last one smashed to smitherines, so thats it from me they dont care so I dont either now !!!1111
I’ll find out tomorrow morning.

hiya,
your my type of driver make em look like they like they earn a living, i’ve got a fear of snakes hosepipes look like snakes can’t touch the things, hosepipes i mean
thanks harry long retired.
Just been down to mine after a week off. Drivers door bashed (looks like opened against a wall or something) 2 Roof lights snapped off from hitting something low. Air lines all tied together and covered in grease, Nearside step broke. In the cab he looks like one of those i aint getting my hands dirty types who wears gloves for everything from airlines to driving to looking through your cupboards. Grease everywhere. Radio bust and a locker door hanging off. So i did not put my gear in i am going to do the first job tomorrow then straight back in to get it all sorted and valeted. Then it’s off to the Agency that supplied the “Driver” and introduce him to this.. About the only thing he didnt put his grubby mits on. And to get back all the pens and pencils and books he robbed.
I am not a happy bunny.
Before going on holiday I’d take out all my personal stuff including the bedding and anything useful and then leave a note on the dash saying “Please leave it how you found it!” sometimes it worked
I do take all the valuable stuff and the bedding, but you still get some [zb] who just doesn’t care because by the time you get back he’s long gone. Well I’m different and I’m gonna track this [zb] down and make him pay. Even if i have to make him suffer in front of all his friends and family he will learn respect. Yes i am steaming.
i was expecting an american driver to have got confused by now.
and said something like “well mines in the state of Texas.”
il find out in the morning
Ive just had a week and half off got into mine last nite ■■■ ash everywhere grease all over the place rear wheel arches scratched (■■? how on earth you do that) air lines covered in grease tangled up and why o why do agency drivers ( i know before any 1 starts i went thru the rotas and yes they were ALL agency drivers) have to go thru all the cupboards and take anything thats not nailed down ie where the [zb] have all my pens etc gone■■? it looks like its done a few stages of the rac rally as been said if they dont care why should i■■? oh and even if i wanted to clean it some little [zb] has had my polish etc off!!!
As a full time holiday relief driver, I leave the truck I am driving as I find it. If its clean & tidy, it stays that way. But what about when I get a trampers truck and he has left half of his crap in it? What do I do with it at 4am Monday morning? You know, toilet fresheners screwed to the wall, stupid teddy bears on the dash, every cupboard & drawer stuffed with junk, ashtray full of pot pourri, flags in the window etc.
I put them in the back of my van for the week and move my stuff in, and on the friday when I have emptied and cleaned it, I dump it all in the passenger footwell. Too many people say “my truck”…its not yours, its the companies, and if someone else drives it, so be it. I have noticed a lot of drivers use “holiday reliefs” and agency drivers to cover up stuff they themselves have bent or broken or lost, so it works both ways!

you beat me to the point.
IF it was theirs (bought & paid for) they`d have parked it up, & took the keys with em before heading off on holiday.
If anyone expects their truck to be clean when they return from holiday, at least go to the trouble of leaving some cleaning materials (polish, dusters, etc) around, so that the profesional agency drivers can at least try to clean up before the regular driver returns
I expect it to be left as i left it…
Lat time i had time off, which was earlier this year, i left it nice and tidy, it had one bloke on it for a fortnight, and when i got it back it was great, couldnt fault it. When i saw the guy i even thanked him…
On the flip side i have had some really dirty bloke on it before, and found allsorts of ■■■■■ in the cab… Womens Dirty Thing in my Iveco on RPL is one that springs to mind…
