I’m going for my first ever class 1 assessment/interview tomorrow and was wondering what to wear? i don’t want the assessor to think i didn’t make an effort or anything based on appearance.
It did make me think that obviously if i wore a suit then it will get mucky with the checks and all that so i’m pretty sure no one ever wears a suit but how about casual/formal or just casual?
You going for a job as bank manager, street walker, deputy head?, nope go dressed as a smart lorry driver, clean workboots trousers shirt or polo shirt and clean coat plus hivis vest to go over as no doubt that’s policy, take clean work gloves.
Take licence digi card and driver qual card.
If your car looks like it was washed 3 years ago * give it a clean, they might see you parking and if it looks like a tramp’s mobile hovel and they keep a tidy fleet…
dropped one of the cars off for MOT and in the MOT bay is a fiesta that might have last been cleaned the day it left the showroom, quite apart from lack of pride, if i was the mechanic i would immediately assume the owner has no respect for me, so my standard of care and work provided to him/her will be appropriate, what is wrong with these people?, show some courtesy for goodness sake.
I kid you not we had a driver turn up for assessment suited (complete with waistcoat) and shoes you could use for mirrors [emoji23]
He didn’t get the job [emoji106]
I wore some steelies, smart navy combat trousers and a polo shirt freshly ironed. Plus 1 high viz vest. Hair was brushed, teeth were cleaned, deodorant utilised and face was shaved. Hope this helps
When I had my trucks I was always aware of drivers who had diesel cars and kept a close eye especially on the casual drivers fuel consumption.
It’s being realistic, streetwise, and an aversion towards not being taken for a ■■■■.
As for the dress code, common sense, don’t go dressed like a co executive nor a tramp, but somewhere in between, smart but casual is the answer…btw good luck with it.
oh dear. I’m going to Stobart for an interview/assesment too. I haven’t washed my car since I bought it 15 months ago (assuming they washed it before tehy put it up for sale). Oh, and it’s diesel, too. I’m screwed I’ll be wearing my good luck hi viz with the name of a certain driving school on the back to impress the assessor.
Just needed to make sure. Don’t want anything to go against me.
Turning up…
In a 730d won’t help. No boss likes a driver with a nicer can than they have.
Then again, you might show up in a Trabant.
One ex boss swore blind he would never employ anyone who drove a diesel car…
Suppose it stopped drivers filling up their cars from the fountain of free fuel [emoji618][emoji23]

AHAHAHAHA do people actually do this■■? this is some funny scheisse (I’ve just started driving so got a lot to see yet)
T’was once suspect when diesel cars were nowhere near as good, or common, as current ones, and fuel consumption wasn’t as closely monitored.
More than one driver lost a job after being “bitten by the ■■■■■■■■■ snake”.
I applied for 6 jobs, got 5 interviews and attended them all wearing my current employers uniform, clean and fresh obviously. I apologised for my attire and explained that I was going straight to work after this interview (which I was). Three of them offered me jobs and I gladly accepted one of them.
I did however make sure I parked my car out of sight, although at one place it didn’t really look out of place!

There you have it guys, drive a diesel car and drive lorries and you’re automatically assumed to be a thief.
Take it as you like Conor you’ve never owned trucks so it’s one of the very few things that you (think you) know every ■■■■ thing about.
Fyi I caught at least 2 nicking diesel, and they were both smart arses like you and thought they could get away with it…wrong.
Cheers.

Bloody hell robroy, you should have put driver facing cameras in too and caught them smoking, eating and using a mobile whilst driving too!!
