what scares you the most?

I’ve been giving this some thought and nothing much springs to mind. I sometimes worry about not being able to get out of some where I’ve got into, but that not reallly scary, Then i was driving through Burn on the A19 and two kids where running along the pavement messing about and the thought of one of them tripping and rolling under the wheels, scares me. I’m always very wary of kids, they are so unpredictable.
Another thing I don’t like are women who put push chairs on the kerb, some times overhanging, when they are waiting to cross the road.

For me, the thing that scares the hell out of me is when I have a hard shoulder closure on for a broken down vehicle and I have my cones out. When I hear the noise of tyres on the rumble strip and my cones going flying. I’m ready to stick two fingers up to the job and dive over the barrier to safety! :open_mouth:

I don’t know why I have this fear I think it’s a bit strange…however, whenever I drive across a level crossing I always think that maybe the barriers haven’t come down when they should and as I cross the lines I’m going to get pulverised by a train, told you it was a strange one :exclamation:

Motorists, you just never know what kind of stunt they might pull next.

A few years ago, I had a bad accident on the way home from work. Luckily no one else was hurt, but I ended up trapped in my car listening to the engine hissing, and I thought “if this thing catches fire, I’ve had it” :open_mouth:

That really really scared me.

There was a guy, that had been following me and seen the whole thing, and bless him, he stood by what was left of the driver’s window and talked to me and kept me calm. I had never met the guy before, and have never seen him since, Nick I think his name was. But if he is out there, I owe you a beer, cos I was panicing…big time

The islamification of Britain.

The thought of newcastle now playing in the championship makes me more scared than getting run over by a stupid ■■■■’ing train

on country roads putting a nearside wheel too close to the grass and ending up in a field

Working in the estates !!! Having to watch out for cars pedestrians and the crew. Sometimes people walk behind the truck, run in front, or try and stop you to have a go, its 100% concentration all the time what scares me is losing concentration for a second and injuring someone.

seeing orange lights on the hard shoulder

while in the car once, doing about 80 up the M74, i was passing an AA van with its orange lights on and as i was going past, the owner of the car (i presume it was them, they had no hi viz on) stepped out from the front of the AA van and into the first lane, i missed him by millimetres but it really scared me, now when i see them orange lights i try to get as far away as possible from them, i wouldnt like to think what would have happened if i had clipped him!

if you see something on the hard shoulder try and get into lane 2 mate. no matter what you are driving. if they are emergency services (police, fire brigade etc) they tend to wave a thanks to you. the breakdown guys probably would but are too busy and normal road users who dont find themselves there very often are the ones who wander around in lane 1. an air horn gives the desired effect of a brown trousers incident :smiling_imp:

that is exactly what i do, or if its busy i ride the white line and make lane 2 move over slightly. better to make a car move over slightly than to close three lanes with joe publics blood!

I can heartily endorse all of the above, being an ex-recovery driver, I can say that I always appreciated it mightily when traffic pulled over onto lane2, and I try to do the same now when I come across the same situations. When I look at them now I shudder to think that at the time I never really worried too much about the traffic whizzing by inches from my backside. Glad I’m out of that now.
