Due to receiving a letter from our friends at DVLA due to failed medical my licence is now revoked ( against my Dr intervention ) I may appeal against this or wait 12 Months have another medical re apply unless new evidence is available
I now have appointments booked with cardiology in March & Neurology in May
Dr has also given me a 3 month sick note witch will be handed in on Monday
Might need to look at some other options although been driving commercially for nearly 30 years don’t really know anything else
if you still have your normal licence then be a white van man, plenty of variety there.
if youve lost the lot, then dont mess about with jobseekers,
,get straight onto esa and go for everything you can claim for.
going on esa means you wont need to go through the purgatory of going through the motions about what you did every day looking for a job that your not going to get anyway.
The benefits system is all a complete and total crock of crap. If you’ve been driving a truck for 30+ years and you are declared medically unable to continue driving, then you should receive sufficient benefits to live on, no ifs of buts. You shouldn’t be treated like some workshy scrounger while in the next room some Somalian who rocked up on the Kent coast yesterday in a rubber dinghy is being awarded his £1,000 a week.

An appeal really depends on whether the Doctor supporting you is your GP or the specialist treating you. If the latter then the panel are insulting his professional reputation so he may be inclined to to write forcibly to them.

Will have to wait to see what the test results show after March & May but yes I agree with you they will be insulting him/her my GP is supporting me as well which helps

+1…Look after our own, charity begins at home.
“Charity” has nowt to do with it!
Sickness Pay and Unemployment Payments are paid for by us, as a society, and should be paid out as a right.
.
Believing “fake news” about high payments to immigrants has nothing to do with the right of workers to fair treatment at time of need. Believing such nonsense means we dont see the truth about Government cutting costs by denying sick people a decent payment. They want to cut taxes for the richest by denying adequate payments to ordinary workers. . Dont introduce red-herrings about immigration when your own Government is to blame for maladministration of benefits.

All I’m saying is that the government can easily find money to house and feed people who jump off the back of a lorry in Kent but not to look after our own who have fallen on hard times.

I agree that the Gov are far to reticent to pay out on genuine sick and other needy cases.
I`m not convinced that all who “jump off the back of a lorry in Kent” are going to get any significant payment. Will an “illegal” walk into a Government office, with no documentation and be paid!? Really?
In response to a 2016 petition asking the government to ‘Stop all benefits to illegal immigrants completely’, the government said: “Illegal immigrants and failed asylum seekers are not entitled to, and do not get, benefits from the UK’s welfare system”.fullfact.org/immigration/pensio … -refugees/
The problem is that the Govt advertise it on the www. and it probably seems like quite a lot if you are living on $3 a month.
I’m waiting for a decision as to if I get any help from pip for a larger weekly amount due to a long standing spinal problem but not holding out much hope on that score tbh so they put me on esa (employment support allowance) 73 quid a week,20 has to make the rent shortfall,(the landlords considering raising the rent another 20,)factor in the various phone contracts you can’t opt out of and insurance direct debits,I’ll be lucky to see a fiver a week for food and heating while being increasingly bullied/sanctioned for not taking jobs I’m totally unsuited to after 2 decades as a lorryist, throw in credit rating depletion and the ever present threat of losing my roof we can safely say there’s a basic imbalance at play across the land I would venture.

the fact that your on esa means they cant ask you to work hence no need for jobseekers.
refuse point blank to go for an assessment as your unfit to travel ect,and despite their letters to the contrary,as and when you get passed as fit for work, just instantly appeal and your esa money continues till your appeal is heard which can easily be 2 years if you milk it.
the rule of thumb is that if you can make it to your interview ,interact with the “medical professional” and find your way home again, then you are fit for work, even if you turn up in a wheelchair or iron lung.

Aye but 73 quid a week is equivalent to zero pw,you know how it is with bad backs bit of an aunt sally illness but one thats pushed me into the most morbid of mindsets after my last 7 year tramping stint.I dont want to leave the game tbh, but when youfind yourself carrying around a disposable barbecue in the cab for when things reach maximum suffering,I think some radical actions are required and in the absence of company sick pay schemes I find myself at the mercy of DWP,with the realisation there is no genuine recovery option that doesn’t involve starvation or homelessness with a side order of severe anguish into the bargain.
“the rule of thumb is that if you can make it to your interview ,interact with the “medical professional” and find your way home again, then you are fit for work, even if you turn up in a wheelchair or iron lung.”
Absolutely, there’s a woman near us who gets sickness benefit and paid servants (‘carers’) every day.
She says she’s too sick to travel, the assessor has to come to her.
The day before the servant gets the oxygen tank and mask, wheelchair and crutches out of the cupboard and helps her employer ‘dress’ the house with them, having first put away the copies of Country Living and the ■■■ toys.
The lady then takes to her bed, and puts on her oxygen mask when the assessor arrives. In this state, she can’t answer any of the questions!
Next day, the house is put back to normal, and the lady resumes her internet search for young black men to have no-strings ■■■ with .
dieseldog999:
do likewise, milk it to death and get what you can, though to be honest,id have to think twice about the no strings black men to be having ■■■ with.
it obviously depends on the price, and possibly if i could get morphine patches or novocane injections for my ringpiece.
Not really one for milking things,I just think there needs to be a realisation that a certain level of cash should be available to survive on ,but the new landscape seems positively satanic in failing to delineate the differences between folk who are literally worn out through challenging jobs and those just swinging the proverbial. One size fits all is not applicable in such cases.

Due to receiving a letter from our friends at DVLA due to failed medical my licence is now revoked ( against my Dr intervention ) I may appeal against this or wait 12 Months have another medical re apply unless new evidence is available

Dr has also given me a 3 month sick note witch will be handed in on Monday

More or less the same sort of thing that happened to me after 35 years driving class 1 and failing one of my HGV medicals with spinal injuries, the DVLA left me with car licence only with no option of driving a van.
As someone said the benefit system is a crock o krap and they had me in front of so many medical panels it was getting ridiculous, soul destroying. they even advised I was fit for work and stopped my benefit after one medical panel, Under the freedom of information act I got the assessors notes and that barstward had written down the opposite of what I had said & ignored information from my doctor and didn’t even look at my medical records.
If you say you cant drive because of the medication you take, the benefits agency have now started to let DVLA know who will revoke you’re licence on those grounds, if you get that overturned by your doctor you will then become eligible for work in their eyes, very divisive of them.
I took them to a tribunal at Wigan court and won my case plus I got back all back payment of benefits.
A couple of other things I omitted about my day in tribunal court too, upstairs in Wigan Crown court there are at least three hearing rooms & pinned to the doors of each court room is the days proceedings, I was rang in the morning by the clerk of court asking if I was attending my afternoons hearing I said of course I am, she said can you come in now as the other people haven’t turned up
As I was waiting outside my court room I went and had a look on the other court room listings and nobody was there at their hearing times on both courts with the clerk of court opening both doors to see if they’d turned up.
They either were too afraid to go through with it or were swinging the lead!!! I don’t know but it seemed very strange.
When my hearing began We were only 10 minutes in and the magistrate said we are paperwork missing from DHSS and he was conversing with the clerk of court about having to postpone the hearing. I asked which paperwork was missing & he said such & such & I said I have them albeit photocopies.
He said they will suffice & I heard him say to the clerk of court that this not the first time this has happened. (are they doing this to prolong the misery?)
So if anyone else is going through this, photocopy everything.
You would have thought that it would have been the end of it after I won my case but they called me before a medical panel one more time, I’d already turned 64 years of age by then but still had to go through it.
