Tell you something Lady P, If I ever came into serious money I’d make sure my local CAB got an oppulent xmas hamper from me from Fortnum&Masons every year for the work these folks do,every last man jack of em.They’re the real Samaritans in these Draconian times. All volunteers too.Remarkable people.

The benefits system is all a complete and total crock of crap. If you’ve been driving a truck for 30+ years and you are declared medically unable to continue driving, then you should receive sufficient benefits to live on, no ifs of buts. You shouldn’t be treated like some workshy scrounger while in the next room some Somalian who rocked up on the Kent coast yesterday in a rubber dinghy is being awarded his £1,000 a week.
+1…Look after our own, charity begins at home.
“Charity” has nowt to do with it!
Sickness Pay and Unemployment Payments are paid for by us, as a society, and should be paid out as a right.
.
Believing “fake news” about high payments to immigrants has nothing to do with the right of workers to fair treatment at time of need. Believing such nonsense means we dont see the truth about Government cutting costs by denying sick people a decent payment. They want to cut taxes for the richest by denying adequate payments to ordinary workers. . Dont introduce red-herrings about immigration when your own Government is to blame for maladministration of benefits.
I agree with all 3 posters but well very said Franglais.
Lady P, I ran into a bit of medical trouble 2 years ago. I thought I would get it sorted in 2 weeks but it took 4 months as I discovered the medical industry moves at its own speed and nothing I tried would change that.
The cycle of Appointments, reports, reviews and repeat was really frustrating but fortunately I got there in the end so the very best of luck to you on this one and I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.
Manalishi, I certainly hope the allowance improves for you.
I know you said it’s a long term problem but is there any hope of you making a recovery as back pain etc is an absolute life of misery?
I did mine in badly a fair few years ago and it took 3 years of perseverance to get reasonably sorted. Now I have to watch the weight carefully and do a small bit of exercise and things seem to be holding up fairly well touch wood.
Like I said I hope you get the money you have earned but I also hope you can get a decent recovery too.

It’s fake news is it Why are they crossing the English Channel in boats from a SAFE COUNTRY? why choose the uk? BENEFITS system soft touch Britain is why, they do get benefits and lots of other help like front of the que for social housing whilst ex service men are homeless on the streets it’s a disgrace and unsustainable the uk is being invaded by a hoard of combatants , how many are Jhadi’s,or have contagious diseases ? facts are we don’t know because no one is checking

Thanks bro.
The conditions been with me for a fair few years tbh, just been hanging on by the skin of my teeth.Classic disc disintegration with referred upper arm pain. Can’t handle the effects of respectively-Gabopentin or Pregablin, found getting up at 4am,every morning next door to impossible, so have just ridden out the pain to the point where I’ve had to abandon ship waving the white flag.
Trying to get advice from the medical establishment is ambiguous to put it mildly, they are reluctant to offer any surgical procedures due to the risks inherent ,but also seem unable to offer any advice regarding continuance of driving. To my mind I would think, pounding the spine in a truck on a daily basis is maybe not the ideal situation for arresting further spinal deteriorations, but I could be wrong, the surgeons seem very reluctant to commit to anything regarding an opinion so I had to act in ruthless self-preservation type of way by resigning.
I had a fewauxillaryissues with my then employers, involving harsher upscalings of monitoring,driver-facing cameras,over-fastidious cab tidiness requirements etc, etc, but the persistent pain increases, alongside this, simply led to a personal holocaust of suffering which proved unsustainable so I’m going down the cuckoos nest route (mental health) as well, with more hope than expectation ■■■■ happens.

My opinion, based on conversations I’ve had with some over the UK ‘pull factor’.
English…very widely spoke as a second language
No ID card…very unusual for a nation not to have a single ID, but you can have multiple or no identity in the UK and get away with it. I’ve recently had a brush with the Government machine thanks to a heart block, and there is no cross reference between Nat insurance number, nat health number, driver number, your HMRC identifier etc.
A thriving black economy
Blind eyes turned to pretty much everything.
BTW: I don’t think our ex-servicemen/women are particularly underprovided for…there are a huge number of charities operating in the ex-service sector, and this alone might be the cause of the problem, as it’s difficult to know which ones to turn to. It was perhaps simpler in the 1960s. I remember my dad (ex WW2 RN) being ‘in the Legion’ and making sure that the elderly veterans of WW1 in the village were getting enough coal etc. It was all done locally, with a minimum of fuss, and no overheads to speak of.

Thanks LP,sounds like your condition pretty much mirrors mine.I find the medicants on offer fairly hard to adapt too,but I will say this.Turmeric …I know we’re assailed by the media coverage of this supplement but since changing to a higher, more bioavailable strain from Natures Best (Curcabsorb) I would definitely say theres hope for taking the overpowering sting from spinal nerve compression.I’ve been using this for a few months as it takes a long time to establish itself in the system but if partnered with Glucosamine (with chondroitin) and much more importantly-Piperine (black pepper, available in capsule form) these two additions seriously enhance the anti-inflammatory capabilities of Turmeric.
The problem with heavy meds,is they only mask the pain and eventually you tend to address this with ever increasing dosages that aren’t noted to give tangible benefits the longer you’re on them, but isn’t that just the quintessence of western medicine ie,a profit based model?.Even now gp`s get scant tuition in nutrition and natural medicine. They want dependent customers rather than cured patients. Much Like our financial system, just a giant Ponzi scheme.I’m no earth mother type of deal,as cynical a bugger as the next bod,but I genuinely think that the doses suggested for supplements are way too low, vitamin c,a perfect example at 1000 mgs is a joke, you could easily accommodate 20,000 mgs of this stuff coz we don’t produce it ourselves,it’s soon purged.
Rule of thumb,up the dosages significantly on supplements, expensive, yes, but no long -term zombification element.Cheers for your helpful input.
