I do it for a few reasons. The money is a bit better, I have a dedicated unit and trailer. I also find I get more rest. If you work a 13hr day shift, add in your commuting time etc. I was finding that some nights I may only be getting 5hrs rest before being up again! I tried a few jobs working days but always come back to tramping! As others have said it is a bit of a way of life! On the subject of family life, its has caused me and my wife to split and get divorced, but its also how I met my new better half!

Its a way of life for some and its something ive wanted to do since before I even had my license, I earn good money working for the co op but its not what I want to do and im not happy some days I dread going in . Yes I have young children which some weeks I dont see for a few days at a time due to working long days to get some overtime in so we can do stuff as a family, as long as I can take 480/500+ a week home it all good and as for me and the wife spending time apart from each other so I can do what I need to look agter the family cant be as bad as being unhappy and being tired after long days and having arguments.
