I rather suspect that we all know Phil Mitchell by another user name.
A fairly obvious troll methinks

The young driver knew where the end of his vehicle was and didn’t need, or react to, pointless, not to mention illegal, flashes of the headlights.
Never knew it was illegal to flash your headlights
Just out of interest, could you post up a link with this rule in thanks?
Phillip Mitchell:
License dont mean good driver, all younguns with license dont know what it is too be good driver, no nights of road anymore, boy in a truck overtook me and flashed him when to pull in he dont say thankyou with ligts so i go past him and he dont look at me no flash for me pull back in and give him thannks with breaks then he come padt agen shaking fists shouting I just laugh and fladh him agen to come in and no thankyou agen, younguns need good slap, take awy license and have diferrent job til grown up.
Bit like when you hold a door open for someone and they don’t say thank you. Slightly annoying yes but doesn’t warrant some kind of reaction back and this young vs old is a lot of nonsense. Age is nothing to do with it. Going by your theory, pensioners would be the best drivers on the road
What gets my goat about the old v young debate Is I’m 33 and have been driving since I was 21 is people say about you ain’t a driver unless you can rope or sheet but I have never had a job where the need to rope and sheet has been needed so i haven’t needed to learn but I’f a job come up I wanted and it was part of it I would learn.
But I’ve been driving lorrys 12 years and have had two accidents and only one was my fault but I’ve worked places where drivers with 30 years experience couldn’t drive nails with a good hammer but I’m some young tearaway.
I did have a bit of an advantage as I was round trucks from the time I could walk as my dad was a driver and him and my uncle had there own at one time and I was moving old scammell routemans foden tippers etc as soon as I could reach the pedals but I was working at a firm where I had a foden 4000 with a 13 speed fuller which was up for test and they sent an experienced old guy who couldn’t get it out the gate as his 20 years driving skip lorrys with six speed syncro boxes wasn’t much help.
Anyway rant over in my opinion a good driver is one who comes in try’s there best everyday don’t wreck the truck through negligence and is polite and friendly to the customers.
Happy Christmas to everyone and there family on trucknet uk

'tis highway code rule 110:
110
Flashing headlights. Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you are there. Do not flash your headlights to convey any other message or intimidate other road users.

But its not illegal though?
‘‘Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you are there’’
You flash your headlights to say the other driver is clear to pull in so…ie, alerting that your there if you like.
Edited to say, the highway code isnt the law

Didn’t somebody get prosecuted or something a while ago for flashing oncoming traffic to warn them of a speed camera?
Yeah but that was for interfering with a police officer whilst he’s trying to perform his duty or some such, not specifically for the act of flashing his lights.

No, I flash only to communicate that I’m there - as per the Highway Book of Top-Tips.
Quite what any other driver makes of it (or ignores?) is their concern. I’m not clever enough to second guess what others on the road are up to.
Truth is 35 yrs accident and conviction free still only makes me just a number, but that suits ! To be put on a pedestal would mean a bigger fall if things do go wrong.

They’ve just overtaken you, they already know you’re there.

Indeed, it’s a guidebook to the many different laws and regulations which cover use of the road in an easy to understand format.
