harry_gill:
hiya,
dafdave yes i remember the cafe at the summit the eagles nest or something got snowed up in the layby a few times did scotch regular in those days it was the a6 or nowt used to get there eventually, thanks harry long retired.

Hi Harry, reading this thread has reminded me of an outfit from Blackrod called Fred Rose. They ran up to Glasgow frequently and their red KV cabbed 8 legger ERFs could often be seen of an evening in the 50s and 60s grinding up from Kendal towards the Jungle. I haven’t seen the name Fred Rose mentioned before on here and just wondered if you remembered them. Cheers , Eddie.

Worst road in Britain? Any that go to/come from Bradistan.

Andrew Leitch:
A75 - the Paddy GP

Anywhere between Gretna and Stranraer.

I travel the 75 twice a night and the paddies are usually in a convoy of 10 or 12, (safety in numbers apparently), 10 ft apart, (close coupled??) and travelling at 120k’s +

+1 for the 75,though my reason would be the 24/7 entrapment by d&g traffic plod.definately the slimeyest of the slimey with about as much perspective as giving a traffic cone a laser gun…oh…and vosa getting as much as poss earnings now that castle kenndy is still open…

m 25.

The A16 from Peterborough to Boston. Can be the most frustrating road. Hopefully the new speed limit will improve it

2nd the A708 .greymares tail road…used it to get back to base at moffat before the “improvements” in 80s&90s ,fun when you are verge to verge going round a corner an ya meet someone else doing the same… pic o one o the wider parts!

m5 in caravan season

russjp:
Washington to Metrocentre on the A1 - its a giant car park at peak times

any road that runs through blackburn  :stuck_out_tongue:

Hectors-dad:
The A83 Campbeltown to Ardrishaig is terrible :open_mouth:

The A83 full stop. Never seen so many pot holes. Esp the bit after inverary heading Glasgow bound. Def needs resurfacing

A34, from the M40 to Hinksey Interchange, both ways, with the added pleasure of the Peartree Ditch on the northbound side (wonder how long before that appears again) POXY ROAD !

Doubt it on here :unamused: I might dig one up :smiling_imp:

I don’t know about the worst road but the missus and me were staying near Dumfries last week in the caravan and had a run up to Lockerbie and over the hills behind the town. There were potholes that if a car or bike hit them at night would cause major vehicle damage or even Death to the bike rider and these were B roads and not country bye-roads, some of the craters extended nearly the full width of the road! Even some A roads were bad in places, as I live in Derbyshire I am used to crap roads but these were way worse.

Pete.

The M180, most boring road ever. The A15 from Lincoln, you’re stuffed if you get behind a tanker. The A16 suffers from the same thing. The A1 coming into Gateshead, morons don’t know how to handle roadworks. Certain parts of the M62 in rush hour.

As the 6th of April any road the Hero’s of flat to the mat squad are on regardless of the state of the road

aye windrush my mother was saying the road up to Corrie and bankshill are a total disgrace, would have my dad and the old roadmen turning in their graves.

Shankhill road during the troubles (as they called it). Delivering too the brewery. One of oor motor’s got shot at.
That said anywhere at the time as we drove bright orange units and trls. Not good.

Only for 3 more days, although I just finished my last shift doing that tonight.

Yes, I did stick to 40mph religiously.

forget motorways and Britian

The worst road in the WORLD is alum rock road - birmingham. it is an Asian area that leads right to city centre thats is chokka block 24/7. Ive been stuck there for up to 2 hours due to blocked in busses etc. You also get the kids smashing your windows and scrawling “no whites after 9pm in alum rock” on the side of your wagon :imp:

i think your exaggerating a bit there mate
it doesnt lead right to the city centre
the no whites sign was put up on 2 lamposts ten years ago
yes the number 14 buses do struggle along there but its their route, they have no choice
if you had half a brain you would avoid alum rock road
and take washwood heath road or adderley road from the gate
