Digi tacho units were brought in in 06’ I believe, any vehicle after that must be fitted with one and any before it can be fitted with either digi or analogue.
Think I got that right… 
No on the tacho but as well as grassing about the drink driving I would tell the driver I did it. I have seen the carnage left by scum bag drink drivers, they don’t deserve there liscense

10hrs a day for three weeks you thinks a lot? 
It is up to the company employing a driver, the company should check their tachos, or digicard after every shift done by their drivers, like it happened where I work at the moment, one driver was found, after checking his digi card, that he was double shifting, worked for us, and after that, he was driving for someone else, with no breaks at all, or daily rests,so he got the sack straight away.
NO!! There are enough busybodies employed by the government, who we all pay for whether we like it or not, to investigate. If they’re not up to the job, that’s their problem.

In theory yes, but the flaw in your logic is crediting every other driver with your level of nouse, some drivers are thick as ■■■■

Look at where we are, and look at YOUR job, You know the one that pays your mortgage, feeds your kids, pays for your beers, when your boss loses the contract becuase otherthe other guys fiddling their hours by whatever means, means they get the work and you dont, do you think they are going to pay your bills for you?
Some of you need to wake up a bit… the only people getting screwed by drivers running bent is you
loyalty amongst drivers sounds good, but I promise they wont pay your mortgage

Jeez… No wonder there’s so many of you lot content on £8ph!
I’m already on the record for reporting two firms running 75+ hour weeks illegally, and trying to get around the laws by “not paying the driver” for the over hours, which presumably would mean falsifying the tacho. I wouldn’t falsify mine, so I dropped the last two shifts in the week once I hit wednesday home time, and only had 3.5 hours left! (Yes, of course I didn’t get asked back!)
No net jobs get lost really, as the firm folding would mean the lapsed (but still existing) business goes elsewhere, and in fact the net hourage put back into the haulier economy would result in extra drivers being taken on by the new third party firm picking up the work… Eg. Bent firm running 10 x 75 hour drivers gets closed down, then new firm runs 15 x 50 hour drivers instead… 5 new jobs and no one loses their licence, since the reporting meant the offending firm gets looked at instead of the drivers. 
If you DON’T report the offending firm, and just “get on with it” knowing what you are doing is aiding and abetting a firm to run bent, then how can you expect much sympathy when pulled by the VOSA anyways■■? 
It’s like being an Auschwitz guard saying “I was only following orders!”
All that paranoia regarding vosa victimising individuals for a firm’s sins is blown out of proportion. Are there not any VOSA people on here that would care to shine a spotlight here?

what if your boss cant compete with firms cutting rates and running up massive debts then going bang!
it’s no problem to the said firm to start trading again under another name, a pre pack job which was all set in motion a few months pior!
then you have suppliers which are unpaid, in your area, what do they do bump up the price of parts to recover some costs and hey presto you have been stung yet again!!
when it comes to my livelyhood being under threat as long as the drivers from the rate cutting firm dont speed and stick to all correct breaks/rest periods it’s all ok!
i could name no end of firms in this area that have gone down owing thousands only to start again under a new name!!
i find this a far bigger treat than driving a few minutes over a 9/10 to get home, or someone loading/tipping off the card!!
