Hi Dean, no that’s not my bus. If you recall, that’s silver. But it’s getting the ā€œtreatmentā€ in the next few weeks as the other trucks are as well.

Hi Jennie, thanks for posting some really good pictures. Have invested a whole Ā£29.95 in new camera following the demise of the ā€œold faithfullā€ on Saturday!!

Definitely stands out

That’s the general idea!! It came about when I didn’t recognise one of my own trucks coming towards me! Don’t think that’ll happen again.

Good luck to everyone training during 2012. Pete

I remember it was silver but also remember you saying it would be getting a makeover. Was just curious

It catches up on us all Pete

Is the refelective strip on the rear got to be continuous ?

I really don’t know - but you would think so. Probably find out at first MOT!!

Surprised no=ones’ picked up on the lack of L plates. Gotta stick them on at the weekend before it starts work on Tuesday.

Pete

Very nice truck , care to share the spec ā– ā– ?

I’m sure Pete will share the Spec in a bit.

However I know for a fact he keeps his vehicles to the minimum requirements for the DSA … hence his strapline ā€˜Keeping It Simple’.

Admittedly it does come as a bit of a shock when you are used to driving 26t rigids to then be faced with that as a prime mover for WnD. But it gets the job done and gets the category on your license

Jennie:

OOOOH thats tempting for the examiner … please tell me what those signs mean?

…should I chuck my Traffic Signs book away ROG? Pete

Still waiting or is it covered by the official secrets act

I was waiting until I was in the office so I could cheat and copy it from another document. But I’ll do my best to remember the spec but bear with me for errors and omissions.

Iveco 120E25 EEV
8.2 metres long
2.5 metres wide
3.5 metres high
12 tonnes MAM
26 tonnes Train

200 litre fuel tank
GRP body with flush barn doors
Lifting side crash bars
Headlight protectors
Additional mirror o/s
8 speed gearbox - 4 over 4 with switch
Drawbar equipped with air/elec at waist height
Dual passenger seat
Airfoil

Crazy livery!

Can’t recall diff ratio but it’s set up to move away in 4th including uphill. (3rd with trailer). This means the normal gear pattern is 4, 6, 7, 8 or 3,5,6or7,8 with trailer.

Happy to answer questions as far as I can without having the spec in front of me. Engine is a 250 (described as Euro 5 and a half) which is extremely flexible. Virtually impossible to be in the wrong gear ie keep your foot down and it will pull.

Happy new year, Pete

250 engine :open_mouth: I bet thats nice and lively for an empty training vehicle, beats the rubbish most are using

Loving the livery, glad your paying and not me

Would it not be 24t Train?

I thought trailer couldn’t be heavier than PM on that setup.

Still very impressive though

Would it not be 24t Train?

Hi dar1976. Not checked this particular one, but the others are 12/26.

I stand corrected then

I always assumed the trailer MAM could not be greater than the PM MAM in a drawbar configuration

These 250’s are incredible. So lively and flexible. Ideal for the job. It has to be better to train on a newer vehicle where the controls do what they’re meant to do rather than a used vehicle that has possbily done half a million miles or more and already enjoyed it’s useful life. It’s a mystery to me; learn on a car and you would expect it to be no more than 3 years old. But somehow people settle for trucks that have already got precariously close to the scrap yard. This is the importance of visiting the training centre. We are not all the same.

Glad you like it - I’m still getting used to it! At least I’ll see them coming now! BTW, the livery cost more than a little - but it’s cheap advertising in the long run.
