Looking at the picture i dont think that would have happened…Your eyes must be better than mine. You’re able to accurately assess how firm of a piece of ground is from a picture? I’m impressed.
Yep.

You seem to have taken my post out of context, i wasn’t explaining to you how to do anything. I was simply stating one of the options as to what he could have done differently as a reply to what you have stated which i have highlighted in red.OK mate, you go ahead. Explain what he could of done differently, i got it all wrong.
I was just saying, if he was so adamant that he wanted to spin it around he could have sacrificed the trailer by putting it on the grass instead of the unit thats all.
If the grounds slightly soft there’s still a good chance the trailer will sink down to the axles and if there’s a kerb you might not get the wheels back over even pulling straight ahead.
This was either an inexperienced driver with a reversing phobia or a slightly more experienced one that panicked. Best thing would have been to sit there with the hazards on and phone plod if the road was too busy or fast to reverse back along.
Looking at the picture i dont think that would have happened on this occasion, putting the trailer wheels on the grass for 10 seconds then spinning it round with enough momentum i personally think he would have got out of it. Not disputing the grass and everything will be completely [zb] around him but i dont think he would have got stuck like he has done. Its a chipliner anyway isnt it? so probably not that heavy.
Something makes me recall from a previous thread you’re a bit over-confident on spinning it round where Stobart drivers have come unstuck.
I really don’t think a successful spinning round was on the cards there whatever position he started out at.
yes and I am still adamant that one day I will have to pass through that village and I will have my video camera ready.
And I agree with you, I think it would have been best if he put the hazards on and reverse, stopping for traffic when need be.

why would a chipliner not be heavy? Trailer and unit weight is in the 17 ton region. Loaded with something like coke then it would easily be 44 ton.
Bulk loads can vary, recycled material can be light, but woodchips, sawdust, peat or bark will usually be 44 ton.
Oh are they not, I’ve never done chip liners. I was just going by materials like bark and wood chips I’ve had in one of those big bags and they seemed much much lighter than say a bag of sand or soil so I thought that a fully loaded trailer with them wouldn’t be that heavy.
But I know you do it so I believe you
Yeah, very easy to mega overload a chip liner or walking floor.

Yes very very easy!
Although once loaded waste chocolate on a tipper with no weigher. Got to Brackley Dryer and had to drop the trailer on weigh bridge! My old 420 (red spot) still went like a train! When we worked out the net weight I was quite surprised just how heavy chocolate is!

Equivelent?? Perhaps all these new words are just Americanisms?
