tachograph i do know the hours what i dont get is how many on here have [zb] all clue about them. so yes i wont comment on every post or every can you help i have been told i can drive for 17 hours a day by my mate is this right.
~snip~
maybe i should change my username to degree in road haulage law? or try to help the people i feel deserve it not trolls.
just so you know i spend a lot of time teaching the basic hours rule etc to a lot of ex forces guys who i have all the time in the world for as they dont use tacho etc and dont therefore ask thick questions.
apologies for the long reply but think too many drivers are too quick to post is this right etc. when it is what they are PAID and quite well in some places as a profession.
i dont even drive anymore but try my best to keep up to date if i can why cant someone who it is their job?
war1974:
AGAIN this site shows exactly why the DCPC was brought in!! too many so called drivers know nothing and i mean nothing about the Law or rules, i get certain pictograms etc may throw the odd driver out, or as posted about police signing a printout etc may end in a ‘oh i had better check type post’. what i dont get is the very basics that are asked on here
Actually I think you’ll find that quite a few of the questions on this board are from people wanting confirmation that what they was told on a DCPC course was incorrect.
war1974:
and with reference to dozys post yes i got it and yes the break was quite rightly pointed out so why repost the same answer?
Sorry but I don’t know which of Dozy’s posts you’re referring to, if I’ve repeated the same answer as someone else in a thread there could be several reasons for it.
Perhaps :
I wrote a reply while someone else did and they posted before me.
I thought it a good idea to put the reply a different way.
I had too much time on my hands at the time
I misunderstood one or more of the other replies.
I was ■■■■■■ and didn’t even see the other replies
[/*:m][/list:u]
Whatever the reason, why does it really matter ?
As far as the rest of your post is concerned I’ve no idea what you’re getting so wound up about, if you don’t like a thread or are not interested in it do what I do and move on.
On the subject of trolls, I have to say that some of your posts in this thread comes across as troll posts to me

Maybe the stupid or basic questions are posted by ex-forces members, or new drivers who’ve only done Initial DCPC & no drivers hours training, or drivers coming into the industry - who’ve yet to use an existing LGV licence, or drivers who just aren’t sure what the requirements are■■?
At least they are asking!!!
Very few of us know everything BTW.
right – tachograph i was trying to say ref dozys post that the answer you gave was correct therefore i didnt feel the need to repost the same, and as mentioned having seen a lot of your advice get the impression you are clued up on the rules and regs.
daz - i dont know everything and understand not everyone does hence why i will go out of my way to help people such as ex forces drivers (was an exapmle as i know not many use tachos), my point is knowing the basics (which a lot of ex forces lads do). i understand that posts such as dozys was a genuine have i got this right which yes if tachograph hadnt beat me to it i would have given a reply.
and either way my point is with the dcpc / training involved (not to mention the cost) and with fines being so freely dished out now is it not the driver who should be taking the time to learn the very basics?
and what is poa, what is crossed hammers, bed symbol etc is pretty bloody basic.

^^^^^ I agree BUT we weren’t born knowing this and how we find out varies immensely. Some drivers will research for themselves, some will ask ‘old Fred in the yard’ (can be dangerous), some will post a question on a forum, some will listen to DCPC instructor (not always failsafe), some will just put their card/chart in & drive the ■■■■ thing!!!
If I have a question my first port of call would always be google, no answer there then ill ask here helps avoid you looking like a complete bell end am sure cameron could use this method in future.
