You never own the music on Spotify. If you stop paying the monthly subscription all your albums and playlists will still be there but they won’t be downloaded and you’d have to go back to streaming them.
Radio/ R1, R2, GEM106, Capital, KISS100. CD’S/ Dance, Power Balleds, 80’s
Being an old ■■■■, it’s Radio 2, despite the Radio 1 cast-offs that have been demoted, until lunchtime, then Radio 4 for The Archers and the afternoon play. If there is nothing worth listening to (more & more these days) it’s on with the proper music- The Eagles, Lynard Skinnard, George Jones, Willie Nelson, The Byrds, George Strait,Ray Price, Bill Monroe & a whole lot more Country Rock artistes that very few will have heard of.
Of course, this is all assuming that I’m allowed to have control of the CD player!
I used to listen to Radio 2 almost exclusively but since losing my dear old Mum and Dad last year, I admit to feeling quite down most days and I tend to listen to the engine nowadays. I don’t know why but “silence” works for me.
Having said that, OH bought me a Bob Dylan CD for christmas . It’s new stuff but back to his roots and it seems to be rekindling my love of music. As an aside, I saw him in concert some years back and it was a fabulous performance, very little interaction with the audience but non-stop music for over 2 hours was good enough for me
radio 1, radio 1xtra, radio 2 only for jeremy vine and absulote radio.
Ive been a radio 1 listener my whole days but the last few months its doing my box in. Its one direction this one direction that, just a constant stream of pish chat till 1pm when scott comes on. He still has to play this pish but you get good banter from him and chris stark. When dev finishes up at 6.30am i put my phone on aux until 1pm.
The Beeb really are beginning to slide again, it’s sad to say. 6 Music can still be a pleasure at times, but whe you consider that the vast majority of its radio stations are really below par these days, it is a little disconcerting.
I’m sorry I think thats rubbish. Just because something is not to your taste doesn’t make it below par. You cant expect the whole of the BBCs radio output to appeal to you. I know radio one isn’t for me so I dont listen. It does what it does very well, which is cater to a very specific very young audience. I keep saying it but they dont want most of the people who frequent this forum as listeners! I used to listen to it all the time but as I got Oder I grew out of it. People expect way to much of the BBC, they seem to think because of the licence fee every minute of their output should cater to them specifically.
r2 mainly on nights.
if i’m on or around the m25, i don’t mind abit of absolute or x.f.m, other than that the ipod
Since Chris Moyles left Radio 1 I listen to 5 live.

No - merely that it shouldn’t cater for one specific demographic…

Why not? Most of the stations cater to one specific group, Radio 1 caters to people under 25 who want top ten chart music, love One Direction and Gaga and so on. What’s wrong with that. Radio 4 is the bastion of the middle classes and 6 Music the realm of music obsessives like me. The BBC pretty much caters to everyone in one way or another.

This is very true - and so I nod my head to you respectfully.
I don’t like that the BBC seems less “focused” than it once was, but then as a bloke approaching his 30s (and increasingly told it’s more like I’m approaching my 60s! ) then I can understand that perhaps my tastes has simply moved on and thus myself and the BBC simply don’t see eye to eye anymore…
You make a good point - so I’ll stick to my iPod and the odd giggle at a late night phone in!
i listen to the worlds fm radio via tunein.com/
