What do you do whilst waiting?

Whilst unloading I constantly see drivers on a bay either reading a paper or watching videos on YouTube and to be honest I think this is a waste of time. If I have time to spare I will always read a book or listen to an audio book or practice learning a different language. I know some drivers that study for tests etc.

So what do you do when on bay waiting?

Great question Joe, I personally do my paperwork for my fridge business with designs, invoices, quotes etc as my two sons do the work I help the wife out with this where I can. I also like to read and write poetry to relax. I find it all a bit degrading when I see drivers just watching youtube or watching DVDs. Learning and Knowledge is the key.

Watching YouTube a waste of time.
Think again sonny you can learn a lot from YouTube

Sonny? I suppose you can but it all depends on who and what your watching of course. It is totally unregulated therefore you may not be learning the correct or safe way.

obviously the concept of time to take a subtle hint is apparanty a massive…WOOOSHHHHHHH. :unamused:

What in your unbiased and obviously vastly experienced opinion is the correct method of learning, the forum awaits your wisdom.

YouTube can be used for learning, Maths and English plus other subjects are available to A level standard for students, revision guides, langauges, step by step mechanical maintenance.

The final word on the feedback forum has now been extended to the final final word. I think they’re delaying him whilst they call in the white coats

Maths and science I would not use YouTube in its entirety for any examination based learning.

I rarely do RDCs, normally it’s depot to depot trunking. As a result, most of my waits are only 45 minutes long and that’s my break time. I like to go for a walk, have a brew and read the paper. No point doing anything too involved because I won’t have time to finish it.

You can łearn a great deal from YouTube or similar. You can also learn a lot about what is happening in the world from a newspaper, once you take into account the political bias of the proprietor.

I’ve learned to do a major repair to my car, lay laminate flooring and how to improve the soil in my vegetable patch. I’ve also been looking at some magic tricks to impress my son with and he can then show his mates at school  .

One of my favourite videos on YouTube are the old episodes of World at War and other documentaries.

You may well find it degrading but it’s not for you to judge how others spend their time. Each to their own :exclamation:

I take the dipper Dave method and knock one out, I don’t learn much but do feel a lot better :grimacing:

I agree that YouTube can be a good place for learning, but you do need to be choosy about who you watch or listen to.

I didn’t mean degrading by watching what you are talking about, I meant films in general like die hard etc. I admit I used the word degrading wrongly. I should have said a waste of time watching some content? Very difficult when trying to explain on here in words rather than in speech where you can get your point across without sounding too harsh etc.

well its not uncommon for me to look in here whilst waiting to catch up on the posts in general, despite the tsunami of irrelevance.
youtube is an absolute world of useful ideas as well as the movies.all for free and no ads.with the big advantage that you can actually post a reply stating your direct views.ive only to watch another 3 and by then il have seen every one currently on youtube till they post some more.
its a tough job,but hey!
