I agree that YouTube can be a good place for learning, but you do need to be choosy about who you watch or listen to.
Well look I am saying this, I used to have a refrigeration Chanel on YouTube, it did really well as I was teaching the subject, however there was and still is others trying the same thing who did not have a clue. How do you know who is who on YouTube. If you want to learn step by step mechanical maintenance from it, you are watching someone do it their way which does not mean the right way… if you don’t know the difference yourself between right or wrong steps to take, how would you know if any steps are missing to do it the correct way? I am not saying it is all bad but there are certainly some dubious ones. For example trucker Jay put one up on uncoupling a trailer, to those who do not know the correct way could have followed his example. Only the ones who knew the correct way would know the difference.

And sometime those in the know get it wrong

To me I feel it’s a video by Rolls Royce, Toyota, Bayer, MIT etc etc then your on to a winner.
If it’s a blurry video from a back kitchen in Peterboghorror then I may be suspicious
There are some good study guides for GCSE and from various colleges etc on there which I feel should be ok if you want a brush up in one particular area.
Kids these days are using the internet a lot for revision and learning in general and by Christ do they need it. My youngest in year two has been learning about ancient Mesopotamia this week and I hadn’t a clue. The maths homework in year 10 is beyond imagination in terms of difficulty. Whoever said school exams are easy these days was a fool.
Back way back when I was in year two we did a bit of alphabet etc, grew a few green beans and played. We had a BBC computer and obviously no net. The mobile hadn’t really been invented then and the thought of looking something up on a handheld phone was light years away. This new schooling is something else.
I practice the Oboe and the clarinet.

In your cab?
Of course. I did have a grand piano in there but alas moved to a smaller vehicle so cut it up for firewood
Id be quite impressed if you had an open fire to burn firewood. Like James May’s Tudor car.

Alas I don’t have a shower in there, only a bath

I absolutely agree, but you’ll often get some idea of whether or not the video maker knows what he/she is talking about by the comments bellow the video.
I’m not saying Youtube by itself is a good way to learn anything complicated, but it can help, I’ve seen plenty of comments from people saying they’re studying a particular subject at university college or school and a video has helped them to get a better understanding.
When it comes to learning Youtube isn’t the be all and end all but it can be a good learning aid, I certainly wouldn’t dismiss it altogether.
A bath?? how very yesterday.

That is the key word, a learning “aid”. I have used YouTube to compliment my own studies at times to get a feel only. My videos were getting used in Universities and colleges as a teaching aid, which I found out from someone studying at a local Uni. I wasn’t happy but if you put them onto youtube then you cannot hold any copyright unless they download the videos for commercial gain. However it is a dangerous thing to do by learning and following engineering topics purely from Youtube alone.
I have very little waiting around with the run i have but…ill get the dumbells out and do some biceps/triceps/ shoulders and obliques if i do have any waiting time. Obviously done outside the cab. Tried fitting a multi gym of sorts in the cab but left no room to drive…
I read magazines mostly. I also like people watching, so I watch other drivers - their habits, mannerisms, body language, etc.
Audiobooks are for when I’m driving.

I take the dipper Dave method and knock one out, I don’t learn much but do feel a lot better
100% this.
Masterbation is one of the key ingredients to a healthy life. 3 times a week I’d recommend for the average male to keep ones testes healthy. I do it so much that only dust comes out me japs now.
Other in cab past times include:
Learning Spanish
Checking out memes my homies have sent me.
Exercising, very good this.
Eating lunch.
Visiting TNUK and faceache
Trolling trump on twitter
Deep thought about world issues
Contemplating the meaning of life
Polishing cab
Watching Stobart drivers struggle to get on bays.
The list is endless we ain’t here for a long time just a good time so use your time wisely. It’s a precious gift.
Showing my age now, but I had a SEGA MEGADRIVE in my truck.
Spent many an hour waiting for T forms to be cleared making a little blue hedgehog collect gold rings.
On the subject of informational youtube videos, I bought a service kit for my KTM starter motor when it gave up the ghost. Tried and tried for a couple of hours, but do you think I could put the thing back together.
3 minutes after a watching a post on youtube and I was tightening the last screw down.
Yes there are a lot of funny cat videos, but there are some real jems on there too.
