What are Keedwell's like to work for?

Hi all

Anyone on here done any work for Keedwell’s? If so, what are they like to work for and what’s the actual pay like? I find a lot of companies tell you what you ‘can earn’, but that’s usually if you work all the overtime there is and never go home!

Any sensible info greatly appreciated.

Ta!

Which depot?

Oxfam buckets earn more per hour.

Unless you worked at UkTramps depot that appeared to earn and work more than anything round here in the northwest. Last advert a few months ago was £7.70h and £9.02 overtime after 55…

Class 1 up here for them is £8 and some change an hour. I think the last time I worked for that amount up here was well over a decade ago.

£9.75ph, FACT!!

Why are there so many numpties about here, open their mouths and let their bellies rumble■■?

I assume with your nickname it will be Highbridge or Devizies.

I am at Highbridge

What are they like to work for?
Trucks and trailers all good
No running bent (if the driver says he cant do it then the planners have to except it)
No MSA parking most truckstops on account or use other (they have a list)hauliers yards overnight or their own yards.
You can park laybys or industrial estates if load is low value
Work load in my view easy some good contracts
not on the phone to you every five minutes (set your stall out with them)

Money
In RDCs and on here you get the crap “I wouldnt get out of bed for that much” “I earned that 10 years ago” I did an exercise once over a week I talked to as many drivers as possible while waiting in RDCs,other delivery points or truck stops, no matter what figure I quoted as an hourly rate they were all at least a£ an hour more than me and there overnight rate £2.50 more (yeah right)
I work 5 days I think Ive done 2 saturday run ins so far this year (my choice)
to week 30 I have earned before tax and including night out money £20500 divide that by 30 is £683 multiply by 52 gives expected earnings of £35k approx before tax and including night out money,I probably put average 62 hours per week on my card plus 45 minute breaks (any driver who clocks nine hours has 45 minutes deducted any other break or POA taken at customer locations is paid)

They are not the best they are not the worst but been going a long time with a good high number fleet, they must be doing something right, yeah you get those who want to knock them usually its those with an axe to grind or the “Ive heard” people.

Would I recommend them in Somerset YES

All I know is that they lie through their teeth to drivers during acquisitions. They bought out RJ Jones a few years back and all the while they were saying that our jobs were secure and we were getting new trucks. The very day they got the keys, we were all let go. I wouldn’t want to work for a company like that.

Wasnt the company called K J Jones?

Nope it was called RJ Jones Haulage, then it went pop and the bloke sold it to himself in a pre-pack and it was called RJ Jones Transport, the second time it went pop he renamed it RJ Jones Group,(this is the one I worked for having not known about the first two when I signed up). Then the group started to go a bit pete-tong so he flogged it lock stock and clapped out Scania to R.T. Keedwell. He has since started up again as RJ’s Transport.

How many drivers lost their jobs?

I would rather work for Keedwell’s than a firm that has a reoccurring habit of going bust
3 times is not good

Hull depot and Hensall is £9.75 per/hour plus £22.50 night out. Parking on snap account or use their depots. I hated it along with lots of others. Other depots are better. Hull and Hensall are bad depots with high driver turn over. Every depot is run differently, one my be ■■■■ and another Ok.

It’s good that you’re happy with your job mate, and fair play to you.
Just one thing, I see you’re a tramper, so am I, I’ve tramped for years for different firms.
Thing is mate, you should never fall in to the trap set by counting your night out money as ‘‘Earnings’’ or when you are summing up your yearly figure…, they aint earnings, they are expenses or subsistence, Otherwise you are just kidding yourself that you are on more than what you actually are.
This ploy is used by many firms when advertising jobs to make things sound better than what they actually are.
So when you see adverts saying ‘‘You can earn 30k a year here tramping’’ what they mean is you can earn 25 and get paid up to 5k depending on how many nights you are away, which is entirely different.
So take off the nights out and it’s a different picture.
Ok, pedantic, and yeh it all goes in the same pot, but nevertheless fact.

Ooooohhh, amazing.
I guess your commments are aimed at me, sorry to disappoint kid, but no belly over here and all I am doing is repeating what was advertised to me via there own advert on the internet.
I can be a numpty at times, but I can also read so wind your neck in son and go and spend your millions…

I met one of these haters once when I first started with them I asked him “how long have you been with them” the response “11 years”

How many drivers lost their jobs?

There were ten of us in my meeting and all were told to clear out the wagons on the day. Can’t speak for other depots.

I thought I replied to this must not of hit the submit button

Your right it is a pedantic point maybe I should of used the term pot instead of earnings! It doesnt change the overall income picture though that aside if you take the yearly night allowance off it still gives a wage of £31 k OTE and yeah you will still get the Jeez I was on that 10 years ago otr the I wouldnt get ot of bed for that much.
I have given a response to the OP that is my honest view based on facts as I see it, others will supply rumours or comment based on non fact.
