Seriously though English football today is not the game we watched back in the day. The problem is there are many talented young players who just never get a chance. There are too many foreign players playing in the premiership (is that racist) instead of hunting out this young talent and bringing them on. Players also are divas who are paid a fortune for kicking a ball in England’s case even barely that. A previous poster mentioned passion there is none in the english team all they think about is money and being so called celebs living the high life.
Iceland were magnifique even their commentator was priceless. Now that is passion. I doubt they will beat France but as they say footie is a funny old game.

We have the richest league in the world and far too many foreign players in it, and as you say, we are developing the talent we have. And when we eventually did bring on a kid with talent, we only gave the poor lad 5 minutes to influence the game…
I wonder if Beckham still thinks that staying in the EU would be good, as it means we attract some of the best players in the world!

I don’t think the Icelanders knew what hit them, although they did not stop trying right to the final whistle.
As Hoddle said the French had been doing their homework on how Iceland beat England, and their defence had it sorted big style, left them no space, and had them all man marked as soon as they were in the box.
Is Johan Cabaye not in the squad? That’s the first French game I’ve seen…I think 
I’ve watched that much bloody football these last few weeks, it’s all morphing into one in my mind, even the wife says I’m neglecting her.
Iceland put up a right good fight to the end last night! 5-2 was a good showing! Could easily have been 5-4 but at end of the day France were far better! Good on Iceland though, its great to see the under dog doing good

They did do well and battled to the end, so great credit to them…
Their zonal marking let them down for the second goal, which I think let France relax and play better. But they didn’t give up which was a breathe of fresh air if you watch a lot of sides these days. 
Not sure about Johan Cabaye, I don’t recall seeing him but didn’t see all the France games…
As for the neglect comment, I’ll let that one go and only have one dig per post!
The problem now is who is going to lift the title, is it going to be Germany?
I really really want Wales to win, but at the same time not sure as an Englishman whether I could put up with the Welsh if they did win!
